If there's anything I love more than balloons, it's throwing down at the E-bark. There are so many places to drink and hook up around there it's not even funny.

One of my favorite movie theatres in SF. A very clean and comfortable theare that focuses more on the independent/foreign films. Most people that go to this theatre are mature and very respectful, so you won't be watching movies surrounded by a group of loud teenagers who continue to chat throughout the film. I really like this theatre.

Ok--in fairness we spent yesterday in bustling, prosperous Union Square. That said, and with the exception of the well-run Landmark Theater and Papyrus stores we visited and a successful office tower, the Embarcadero Center is a confusing, fading mess. Entrances to the complex were not clearly marked, interior signage was largely non-existent, and as visitors we found ourselves looking from... More

Small shops, restaurants, artsy movie theatre and ice skating in the winter. Nice area to stay in which is close to China town and the financial district.

Great lounge chair seating in small theatre venue in the Embarcadero Cinema at 1 Embarcadero. Would expect only the best viewing experience in this sybaritic center of the tech world. Wine and beer available for your theatre enjoyment.

We went during the day to the holiday ice skating rink at the Embarcadero. It gets busier at night. Its a fun place to go. The Embarcadero Center is also fun to shop at, dine at, and go to movies. Christmas decorations were up.

Very comfortable, nice movie theatre. So much nicer than the Sundance Kabuki. I highly recommend it. Chairs are assigned so that you do not have to rush to the theatre early to sit in a good location. Staff is very polite and considerate. Very clean. I especially like that the previews are not shown with an elevated volume like in... More

A nice shopping area on a Sunday. Not too crowded with good shops. The centre is close to the Ferry Building and is an easy stroll down Market from the busier shopping centres.

There are shopping outlets, eateries and The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf! Check out the movie theatres if you are interested. It provides an alternative from Ferry Buildling and the market outside.

Nice place to shop local, but it is a bit too pricey. Nevertheless I advise everyone visiting the bay area to check this place out!

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
