I knew of Haight-Ashbury from the old hippie days of the 1960’s. When I came here I expected not much had changed. Boy, was I wrong! Yes, there are still remnants of the 60’s here, but most of the area is full of beautiful Victorian...More

Drove by this area on the double decker bus and had to go back. My wife and I walked this area for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning. I enjoyed the history. She wasn't impressed by the homelessness and general sketchy neighbourhood. Lots...More

Its hippie area of SF. Lots of second hand shops. Small cafes and specialty shops. Another area of SF where, sadly, homelessness is very present. Worth the visit for few hours.

We walked from Nob Hill (to much teenage boy sniggling) to Haight-Ashbury... taking in all of theatre land and the theatre crowd and then a long climb up to Haight-Ashbury. Tiring but well worth it. Lots of homeless and little pockets of bad hats outside...More

This was a fun experience. I wasn't a hippie in the 60's nor am I now at 70 but it sure was fun to be in the area that had so much cultural history of the time. My daughter's dialysis clinic is in Haight! Can...More

Since I grew up in the 50's and 60's, just had to visit the locatin referred to in so many of my favourite songs of that era. Lots of people standing around, most of them smoking pot, and offering some for sale.

Good hour or so exploring this part of SFO. Retro clothing, vinyl and people. Some funky murals of Hendrix ect. Worth going to for a taste of where the hippie moment started.

This is one of the coolest spots. I spent a good 4 hours here exploring the awesome shops and enjoying a sandwich and people watching. I regret that I wasn’t able to go back a second time, but everyone should check it out. It’s also...More

This area was one of our favourites. It was very "alternative" with lots of interesting shops to look through. There appeared to be a lot of people "under the influence" of certain substances, but they kept to themselves and we felt comfortable sharing their place...More

We went to Haight Ashbury as it was recommended by our hotel and many guidebooks. However, except for a regular neighborhood of SF which was nice to drive around - I could not see what is the place all about. Maybe in its hay days,...More

From SFO search shuttle services to the city. It's a shared taxi/van. Easy & convenient from the airport. If you're driving , use waze or maps. Otherwise take Uber or Lyft so easy, quick & efficient to anywhere in san Fran

Don't know about festivals. It is not the cleanest area of town but the people are nice and very diverse!

If you're in Haight Ashbury, try Pork Store Cafe for breakfast or lunch (they also have a great veggie omelet). Very inexpensive, local, interesting crowd but small space and pretty crowded most of the time. Magnolia... More
