Lombard Street has the reputation as the most crooked street in the world, but this is not really the case as Vermont Street between 20th & 22nd has this honor. Still tourist flock here to Lombard to see the well-maintained trees, plants and shrubs along this street with sharp switch-backs. I exited the Hyde Street cable car at the top... More

One has heard a lot about this zig-zag street but it has to be seen to be believed. Amazing experience . Best part is that it is not only a tourist attraction but there are people staying on this street.

Must see windy street with lovely landscaped surroundings. Fun to drive or walk down. Unique and cool but wont take much time to check out.

Probably one of the most exciting adventures in SF. Almost like a daring amusement park ride. Your first sight looking down, down, down is breathtaking and heart stopping and then you settle into a thrill of a lfetime!

It's great to either walk down or drive, but the bend very sharp. Some interesting properties either side. Must be very annoying for anyone living there, with the constant flow of tourists.

Whomever thought of making the road into a zig zag road was very clever. With the addition of flowers and shrubs this site has become a must see.

So we did not realize how steep the street to Lombard was. It was a workout, but it was neat. Make sure you have comfortable shoes, the streets are steep.

This well known attraction is vet popular and you will have continuous photographers both top and bottom of road. It offers a great view down Lombard st downhill. Only takes a few minutes to view unless you wish to walk. The plants have been allowed to grow to a height that does not allow a photo of road itself but... More

We did not have a car but walked down Lombard street and enjoyed it. Beautiful homes and landscaping in addition to watching the cars struggle through the hairpin curves. There were two policemen at the top and the hill who were extremely unpleasant. Not great ambassadors for the city!

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
