Due to time of year when visited being winter gardens were in process of all being pruned back, making street not as visual as expected. If in area worth looking at, best way to get to is tram to top.

Certainly one of the most original streets in the world. Lots of tourists at upper and lower intersections, so if you drive a car there, be very cautious because most of tourists mainly focus on their selfies rather than their own safety staying in the middle of the streets

Decide to walk up and down Lombard St. and was surprised by how steep the stairs and hills were. It was crowded on a Sunday afternoon but I was still able to get some great pictures of the cars driving down the winding, steep hill.

It is a place to check out as you don't necessarily see such a twisted road every now and then......

We took the Powell & Hyde Trolley to the top of the street and then walked our way down. It's a bit odd as a tourist attraction as all of the houses are currently occupied by San Fran residents. It felt a bit as though we were imposing ourselves in their neighborhood, but I'm sure they realized that when they... More

Traveled to the Bay area long ago and rented a car, stopped at the top of Lombard, walked down and decided to drive through.... repeated it last year, let an Uber car drive me first and walked back to the top making a movie. What an experience and beautiful view. Will I do it again? Not sure, many other places... More

Long walk upto the switchbacks from the bottom of the hill where the bus stop is,it's better to take the cable car it stops at the top of the street so you can take photos

Actually walked down the most crooked street in America for the first time ever. There are steps alongside the street that allows you to do this as you watch the vehicles slowly snake their way back and forth slowly down the street. It truly is a site to see and if you have never been to the city, then this... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
