There was a lot of homeless people and garbage on the street.we had a good time but from what I saw from movies I thought it would be cleaner.

The Bay area is a mecca of touristy shops and restaurants and if we're honest we'll admit that is what we want. It has a great vibe and views of Alcatraz, and you can't come to Frisco and not - just like the sea lions,...More

Fun Place to See and Walk around. Pretty place with lots of shops, bars, and restaurants. Beautiful views on a beautiful day. Spoiled by the homeless and filth. Glad I saw it, but sad what it is becoming.

The SF Bay is a beautiful sight to see. There are so many photos you can take and the air is so fresh. Traveler Tip: Bring a windbreaker/windproof jacket. SF has a breeze that can blow right through your clothes. If you are cold, you...More

We were lucky enough to stay in a hotel with stellar views of the bay. We could see the fog creeping over the Golden Gate Bridge, the sparkling expanse of the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, the lights of Sausalito, and of course the San Francisco skyline....More

We took the ferry over from Tiburon and enjoyed bay views of both bridges and the city. Traveling into the city through the bay is the way to go for sure! There are many different cities you can take a ferry from to the city....More

Only Sydney harbour comes close in sheer size and dramatic scale (Cape Town ain’t bad either). The setting is breathtaking and is one of the major reasons why, in my mind San Francisco is the number 1 City in the USA as a tourist destination....More

The experience itself is fun. The atmosphere is alive here most of the time. Take time to sit and have lunch and soak up the surrounds of the bay. The shops around are touristy although fun.

The Hilton at union square is quite handy and we used the hop on hop off bus to get around. We walked a couple blocks from the hotel to union square and bought tickets for the bus at 40 dollars each. It stops at many stops... More

I would vote for the East Bay as a base with sojourns into the City, but I would stay more on the Berkeley/Kensington/Solano side of things rather than Oakland. Weatherwise, fall and spring are the sunnier times for SF... More
