If you have the time and inclination, stop by. We parked in the furthest lot not knowing what we were doing. We were there so early we probably could have parked much closer. You do have to traipse past the yacht club and down a long path to get to it. We could not hear much either, perhaps it needs... More

What it does depends on the sea - so I didn't get as much out of it as others may. But it was still fascinating and worth my time - I had a week to look around SF and it was part of a longer walk, I spent about 20min there. The sounds are interesting - I had to put... More

We were so excited to go here and finally found it only to get there at the proper tide and hear NOTHING. All we heard was lapping waves through the pipes no "music" still disappointed

The wave organ was a bit tricky for us to find. You have to walk down past the yacht club and there isn't much to see when you get there. A nice view of the bay and marina, but it doesn't take long to visit. The wave organ is a really cool idea and is interesting for music lovers and... More

The Wave Organ is located by the Marina District and is an interestingly unique "out of the way" attraction! To be honest, the view is a bit more worth while than the actual wave organ experience. The structure was built by the Exploratorium science museum as a sculpture that created "musical sounds" with wind and tidal fluctuations by the bay.... More

Interesting idea for an art project. It faces downtown San Francisco and offers views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge as you walk to it after parking @ Crissy Field.

Love the waves and appreciate music and nature? This is worth a visit. The location by the St Francis Yacht Center is lovely and the view of Alcatraz is darn good to. Finally, it is a concrete structure designed to amplify the sound of the waves. Interesting.

It is colse to crissy field,a 10 minutes walk with great views of the bay and golden gate. Bring your camera. The wave organ is a composed of pipes on the ground. You can hear the waves below.

The walk to the wave organ has amazing views of the bay and the nearby marina. It is a great location if you want to get an amazingly clear view of Alcatraz and the golden gate bridge without all of the crowds. The structure of the wave organ is really interesting and resembles an ancient ruin. Unfortunately, we were not... More

I went here hoping to to hear the waves play music in the tubes. I didn't hear anything from the tubes, except if I got really close you could hear small noises, but it sounded like water in pipes, not really music. However, this was a beautiful location to see the city across the water. And it's an interesting place... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
