What else can one say about tombstones used to create a noise-making tube? I was there at low tide so no organ noise for me, but I loved the creativity behind it nonetheless. A quiet spot on the bay to pause for a moment. And...More

With plenty of free and unlimited time parking space, we had time to walk around and took great pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Alcatraz and the Bay. The bonus was the wave organ with pipes, each produces a unique sound as the waves...More

I would not drive 90 miles to get to the wave organ at high tide. I did it because a friend requested it; not worth it. You have to stick your ear real close to the pipe to hear anything. All it is: water moving...More

The Wave Organ is an installation that has been around for over 30 years. On the morning that we went, we met up with a friend who lived in the Presidio. We visited the Palace of Fine arts and moved onto the Wave Organ. The...More

A beautiful view but go for that - not the organ which at best is not terribly ugly pipes and about one third the size it appears in photos. The day we went was gorgeous which made it better but you are ‘near’ for about...More

We found this through Atlas Obscura and it provided a pretty cool experience. The walk from the parking lot to the wave organ was pleasant, the view of the ocean lovely and the sounds from the organ fun and funky.

Visited with family from out of town and expected to hear more from the "organ" but were more wow'd by the views of the bridge, Alcatraz, and the city. I was not sure what the walking conditions were based on the reviews and descriptions online...More

I took a bus from Pier 39 and then a 15 minute walk to get to the Wave Organ which my guide book had told me was quirky and interesting - and I expected to hear strange hollow gurgling noises coming out of the pipes....More

I can say I've seen it and check it off my list but I wouldn't choose this over so many other great attractions around the city. We visited a little after high tide so I'm sure that contributed, but there was nothing but the echo...More

This place was NOT worth the time. It smelt like iron and there are used condoms and drug paraphernalia all over. At one point this was probably a great place to visit and relax. But the only people relaxing and enjoying this time around were...More

Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful
backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to
the Marina. Originally the location for the
Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose
remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much
of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a
world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a
jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city.
