I did not realize there was a real beach between the Golden Gate Park and the Presidio and Land's End. We took the drive down the coast road and it was absolutely fantastic.. I could have spent 8 hours on that beach had I known how beautiful it was .

San Francisco's Ocean Beach can get cold and foggy. When the weather is right, this place is a treat for surfers, beach walkers or sun bathers. The beach is nice to walk. The view from the Cliff House is better. You can see the waves and the sun hitting the waters. The beach is conveniently located next to Lands End... More

When you get to the end of the line, you will be at the ocean. There's a health food store nearby if you need some snacks or treats (Other Avenues), and remember that this is the part of the city that most likely will be fogged in even if downtown is sunny. A great place to run or walk. Close... More

Was so hoping this was going to be a clean beautiful beach. It was cluttered with debris and extra piles of mud ? No traditional Sandy beach . Views into the coastline nice .no my favorite beach in cali.

For a different take on what San Francisco has to offer, do a leisurely walk on the ocean side of SF. Take in the sounds and smells of the breaking waves, watch the surfers, dog walkers, joggers and surf fishermen. Start at beach entrance near San Francisco Zoo and end at the Clift House. We started late morning and ended... More

Nice clean beach with pretty views. Took a relaxing stroll looking for sea shells and sand dollars and had a great time. There were a few people drawing pictures in the sand that looked really cool. It was pretty cold and windy but still nice to visit.

I'm a native Californian and standing at the top of the hill and looking down on Ocean beach always takes my breath away. It is just lovely - even on a cold and windy day.

I know that sounds melodramatic..however, there are signs everywhere stating the same message. Many people - great swimmers, too - have been pulled into the water. Every year, there is a story about "it couldn't happen to me" accident. Spectacular. Great picnic site.

This is the West coast of San Francisco, just past the end of the GG Park. It is a broad expanse of clean beach with small surf. The dogs love it - especially Romeo who likes to run into the surf. To the North you can see Lands End. Since it is San Fran you might want to avoid it... More
