Who would think that city hall would be worth a tourist's time? City Hall was a stop on our city tour of San Francisco. I wondered why until we drove up to the building and saw its architectural splendor. The inside was even more impressive....More

The art and architecture of City Hall is truly impressive. We took a guided tour, which we enjoyed but found it funny that the tourguide was a retired city employee who had worked there for 30 years; she had been in the tax assessors office,...More

This is a magnificent building with a large dome as the centre piece. The day we visited, there appeared to be a lot of civil marriage ceremonies taking place under a small dome at the top of the grand stair case. In a room off...More

I wish my city would have buildings like SF City Hall because it is utterly beautiful inside. It is free to go inside, security check in place, and if you can spare 15 minutes, you should take a view of the spectacular dome and interior...More

So I haven't visited City Hall in a decade. The last time I visited, there had been rumors about its safety because it is located in the Tenderloin district. I just visited around 8am and it looks like any other city's urban area. The building...More

San Francisco City Hall is a must see when visiting the city by the bay. The building itself is an architectural gem. The cupola is one of the largest in the world. The interior architecture is as beautiful as you would see in many European...More

This city hall is quite historic. It is taller than the U.S. capitol and has such a remarkable history!

The building looks like a typical big city German Rathaus or European palace. My kids were impressed - never having been to Europe. For me...it was worth crossing the square from the Asian Art museum. Very attractive building and enough historical placards to fill the...More

Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things
government and performance-related in the city.
Although its streets are best walked during daytime,
numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to
one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz
center offer year round entertainment within the
shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold
tipped dome of City Hall.

Hi, I am from Singapore and am researching on getting married in San Francisco City Hall this year. I understand from the SF County website that there are two appointments to be made 90 days in advance - first being the marriage license, and the latter being the civil ceremony. I am planning for a 2-weeks vacation in SF as this is the maximum number of days that I can get away from work. This is an important milestone in both my boyfriend's and my lives and we are a little disappointed that we are only able to obtain copies of the marriage certificate 2 to 4 weeks after the request. Is there any opportunities that we can get the marriage certificate before we leave the city? Also, I read that we will need to get the certified original "apostilled". Is it necessary to get this? Please advise. Liz
