This is one of those places that defies explanation on a certain level. It's a museum, but it's also a monument, and it's just a really interesting building. I've been several times for special exhibits. The permanent exhibits are very interesting, as well. If you wander around towards the headlands you can get some magnificent pictures of the Golden Gate.

I got to participate in a super fun scavenger hunt at the Legion of Honor and it was a wonderful place to read everything and look for details. The museum and grounds are absolutely beautiful and always has super interesting exhibits.

The Palace of the Legion of Honor is not to be missed. It is a very old building of classical design set on a bluff overlooking the Bay with a large courtyard. Parking is very difficult, but worth the effort. They have a terrific collection of art and artifacts--something for everyone. My favorite artifacts are from BCE Sicily. The dining... More

The Legion of Honor is an inspiring and elegant gathering space that offers educational opportunities to young and old alike. The site is just ten minutes drive from the visiting center of the Golden Gate Bridge, and is located close to the end of a residential neighborhood on a hill that has great views of the San Francisco downtown and... My favorite museum inside and outside the building; no need to go to Paris to see Rodin; it's here and it's to marvel at.

I have been coming to the Legion of Honor since childhood days. It's an old friend. The setting, atop a hill amid Lincoln Park golf course, is a 3/4's scale replica of the Palace of the Legion of Honor in Paris. Stunning views of the GG Bridge & ocean await in front of you & the majesty of the museum... More

This is at a lovely spot with a good view out across the bay (depending on the weather) and it is nice to look at the different artwork on display (if you enjoy that sort of thing!).

This elegant museum has an interesting permanent collection - including a Rodin sculpture hall and porcelain room - and hosts interesting visiting exhibitions. The location alone - at the far western edge of SF - is worth the trip.

I loved that you can park for free! The museum itself has lots of wonderful art in its permanent collection, but we went for the High Style exhibit with glorious dresses and amazing shoes.

a must see for art lovers. They have a strong art collection including Monet, van Gogh, Constable, El Grecco and more. The space is beautiful and the cafe is great. Saw the latest costume collection from NY. Wonderful.
