The best venue in town with an amazing stage, interior, and sound. The venue is made for everybody in the room to enjoy the show.

I've seen many shows here, and always love the ambiance and small (but not too small) venue. If offered MAKE SURE you do the "dinner and a show" option -- this gets you seats overlooking the whole floor and stage. That way if you want to go down to the floor and mosh you can, but if you want to sit with a cool people watching & band view it's yours.

For the most part this is a great venue, but I had purchased a group of tickets for friends and they had a deal to purchase pre-selected merchandise (separate purchase). Since this was for a birthday I thought that would be a great birthday present. I printed out the receipt and brought it with me. When I went up to the merch booth they said, well we don't have you listed, can you please wait to side while we help other people. After I waited about 20 minutes they said, Your not listed, so your not getting anything very rudely and asked me to leave. I showed them the receipt and they said it doesn't matter. So after wasting my time and embarrassing me in front of my friends, I fought with them over email and phone as they were not going to refund my money until I threatened to report them to my credit card company and write a letter to the owners. So If your going to go please don't fall for this scam and be very careful to keep receipts as they will try to rip you off.

Sadly, I used to love The Great American.

Recently I tripped heading downstairs spraining my left ankle badly. I was treated unbelievably rudely by the staff at the bottom of the stairs. It is shocking that an injured customer would be allowed to leave the premises after an injury but being confronted adds insult to injury.

Went here for a show recently. The venue itself is very ornate and beautiful. The sound system was spot on and the servers were friendly. The show I went to had seating but I gather that they normally do mostly standing room. We didn't try the food but overall had a great experience. The only thing that I saw that could be improved was that the tables were set very very close together and there were 4 chairs to each tiny table so it was very cramped. Even with only 2 of us at our table not having dinner it was cramped so I can't imagine having 4 people eating at one table. Other than that I thought the place was beautiful and had great sound. I also appreciated that the security folks didn't just let folks showing up late come and snag the reserved front tables if they were empty. They gave folks who had been there hours early get priority for empty tables. Parking in the area is a bit confusing so highly recommend paying a little extra to use one of the paid lots nearby.

GAMH is small venue with excellent sightlines and sound system and is a fantastic place to see a show. Get there early if you want one of the tables in the mezzanine.

It's a good space but for the younger people. 98% I think of the space is standing room only. So if you don't like standing up for hours on end you would not like this place. (I could be wrong maybe sometimes they do add seats.)

The sound was good. The crowd was fun. You got in pretty quickly after the search and stuff. Exit was a little slow.

It is highly decorative and a landmark in the Tenderloin district. With a facade of overall dark red, alcoves at ground level and gorgeous ornate features, it is an arresting sight.

Dating from 1907 at a time of post-earthquake reconstruction, it has had a number of names, owners and musical themes.

After the 1950s it suffered years of neglect and was in danger of being swept away to make way for new developments.

In the early 1970s it again changed hands and was rebranded with its current name. It has hosted many famous names in the music business.

Nice old theatre has a new life showing concerts. Its ornate and a little beat up but pretty well cared for. The staff was polite and efficient. The sound system was top notch. Go see a show there. Pretty intimate.

Caught the show on the evening of St. Patrick's Day 2018. Historic venue with decent acoustics. They have a full bar. They also have seating and food depending on the type of show being offered. The only negative we saw is there is no parking at the venue however, we enjoyed the show and the staff (with one exception) were relatively friendly overall. Definitely worth catching a show at this venue.
