Can't get any more interesting and cool than this favorite North Beach bar and museum. Dark, friendly, beloved by the community and those lucky enough to visit. A great beer, a nice wine, good service. Weird and wonderful!

This bar is tucked away down a little alcove across Columbus Street from the City Lights. Great little joint, full of memorabilia and the bohemian denizens of North Beach. Good cocktails, cold beer, weathered and friendly bartenders.

Specs is a bar you probably will never find. It's hidden a bit. And it's a treasure. Great bartenders who are fascinated with the history of this merchant martimer hangout of past. The walls and displays show the history of the seafarers dreams. I brought...More

Just off to the Columbus in an alley, a large bar, a few tables, a bit dark, just right. The hardworking and friendly Lucy brings the beer from the tap. It's cozy, some locals are joining me. A few beers, wild talks and a Chinese...More

In utero my beating heart was so so driving, urging, really. That maddening creciendo has always pounded on, even after the birth cavity; through bicycle-skinned knees, first kisses and last hugs; through, I think, a confused and utterly mesmerizing emotional trip. Clud ump clud ump...More

I love this bar! Get the cheese and crackers, sit there for hours and enjoy! the decor is pure beat generation, like a collection of a crazy world travelling merchant marine...it's the best.

I stumbled into this place by accident. It is kind of out of the way but I am sure glad that I found it. Kind of dark, lots of locals but very unique. I really enjoyed it.

Great mix of hipsters and alcoholics, lots to look at and the perfect amount of terrible service that I love in a good neighbourhood bar. Don't change a thing.

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.
