Description:

The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking...

The Real SF Tour offers 4 incredible tours merging sightseeing and trekking with public transit for the most authentic visitor experience in San Francisco. Part urban adventure, part urban trek, and totally green, The Real SF Tours take you where no other tours can go. You’ll visit enchanted gardens, secret stairways, glorious rooftop views, and some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. You’ll be avoiding large crowds of tourists while experiencing the real culture of San Francisco and learning about its rich and storied history. You’ll traverse the city on Cable Cars, Light Rail, and City Buses. You must be able to walk 4 separate uphill 1.5 block sections, there are a total of 6 uphill flights of stairs, and 15 downhill flights of stairs, spread throughout the day. The day encompasses over 5 miles of walking including short uphill sections and hidden stairways that most people find extremely enjoyable. If you do not walk regularly this tour may be more challenging than enjoyable. If you have any difficulty going up and downstairs we do not recommend this tour. Please only wear comfortable closed toe walking shoes. Tours run daily departing from the California St Cable Car turnaround.

My wife and I had a fantastic tour with Chris today, it's our first time in SF and he showed us around town - all the typical sites, but also the off the beaten track little lanes and provided great tips on restaurants. A very informative and value for money tour. We highly recommend!

Thanks for the awesome review Dan. It was a really fun day dodging a few showers. I can't thank you enough for trying out the new 8:30 a.m. Real SF Tour Winter start time with me. It's going to be a great way to see the city in the cold months and it's a little less walking so it will... More

Ideally you take this tour at the start of your visit to San Fran, however, we did it near the end and it was still the best part of our trip. Frankly, you are not going to be able to efficiently see and experience this much of San Fran by yourself in a day (probably in 3 days actually). The... More

I have done many of these tours in the big citys in the united states, this by far was one of the best. The walking tour really is what it states so be prepared to walk well over your 10,000 steps. Lots of the highlights in the city you do in this one tour which is great as if your short... More

Robin was our tour guide and it was a fabulous tour. Cable car, buses, BART and walking through 11 neighborhoods. It was an organized, fun and educational day. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking something different and learning about many neighborhoods in SF.

We had a great day with Robin our guide. We were a group of 10 and she managed all the logistics really well. This tour does have lots of walking and hills but the views are unbelievable!

We spent a day touring with Chris our guide from The Real SF Tours. He did an amazing job showing us areas of San Francisco we had not seen in many visits to the city. We enjoyed his enthusiasm and knowledge of the many areas we had an opportunity to see. It was an outstanding way to see San Francisco... More

I did this wonderful tour with Chris on my very first day in SF. By evening I had the feeling I actually knew something about this amazing city. Chris will tell you a lot of amazing stories, the kind of stuff you actually want to know, not just facts and figures, he has it down to last small detail, including... More

Did this on day one of a four day trip and found it fun, informative and packed full of sites and information. Katia was our guide and she was energetic and very helpful. Highly recommend if you have at least a full day in the area. Tour is from 930 am till 5-6 pm depending on varying factors. Use of... More

This was my third visit to San Francisco and I saw so much more of the City than in my previous visits. Robin, our guide, was entertaining & well-versed in City lore. We ventured down side streets & little lanes to see a more intimate side of the City not available in the motorized tours. We walked down an alley... More

Having already done Alcatraz and cycled across the Golden Gate Bridge, we felt this would be the perfect way to finish our stay in San Francisco - and as it turned out it definitely was !! Robin (our guide) was very enthusiastic, funny and informative. She has a great knowledge of every little nook and cranny in San Francisco and... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
