Fabulous Art

Inside Coit Tower, one of my favorites art works in SF, beautiful murals in honor of city life during the 1930s. This is very historic and artistic.

This was an interesting spot on the tour. We had stopped into the art school along the trek to check the mural and History. First you walk through a small courtyard, then hang a left into the mural area. There was a story to the painting and little nuggets of this and that.

What a treat - it is out of the way from the tourist parts of San Francisco but if you are an Diego Rivera fan it is not to be missed & certainly worth the drive. Our student host was delightful, full of helpful information & glad we had come. The mural needs a new home - a bigger space... More

I'm posting photos of Diego Rivera's huge mural that's in the lobby of the Diego Rivera Theatre at City College San Francisco, which is the location listed for this sight. I don't know where the other pictures posted here come from. The Pan American Unity Mural is a fantastic mural and a wonderful slice of history.

Hidden in the lobby of the Diego Rivera Theater on the campus of the City College of San Francisco is the huge, beautiful, fresco mural by Diego Rivera. It is vibrant with color despite having been painted 75 years ago. It is a 20 minute BART or Uber ride from downtown, and well worth the trip.

A world treasure! Diego Rivera's last and largest work in the USA. Frescoes Bursting with color and life. A little tricky to locate, but well worth your time and effort! On the campus of City College. If you need help finding the building call 415.452.5188

Rivera was perhaps the greatest Mexican muralist / painter of his time and his works are quite revealing commentary of the times, in this case the early 1940's reflection. Darn hard to find in City College a bit down the peninsula from the big sights of SF, it is nevertheless a worthwhile trek to see a masterpiece. Hopefully it will... More

The San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) is an exceptional place for modern and contemporary art lovers! The Diego Rivera Mural can be found here. without the monastic atmosphere of most of the museums. You can discover and enjoy works of art quietly, and get a true relation with the works exposed there. You can enjoy refreshments at the cafeteria, with... More

I was excited to see Diego River mural. As a Mexican American myself, I enjoyed this painting. My Chinese wife didn’t understand the significance of Diego Rivera so she didn’t understand. When we returned to Beijing, I showed her some movies about him and then she was disappointed she didn’t care to pose for some pics in front of the... More
