The lane is shorter than I expected, but the houses and flora were interesting. Also good views of the Bay as I walked up to it.

Went with my partner who's a huge tales of the city fan , it was a nice lane for me , but for him it was a transportation back in time to the books and the TV, a must see I'd guess for fans

Supposedly this was an inspiration for the Tales of the City novels. Now very upscale. Very picturesque with lovely gardens. We were here to visit friends who live on the lane, lucky them!

Armistead Maupin's: Tales of the city tv series was filmed here which includes the steps to the fictional Barbary Lane. Beautiful gardens!! What a lucky place to live in San Francisco! Great views of the Bay from the steps!...Worth the hike!
