This 2-day course was an excellent way to get familiar with first aid situations in the wilderness and hands on simulations for how to handle them. I took the class to be prepared for a big summer backpacking trip. This class made me feel more comfortable knowing what to do. The instructor was fun/funny, enthusiastic, patient, and informative. Thank you... More

I attended the 2-day (full days - 9-6 Sat and 11-6 Sun) last weekend and I can highly recommend the course to anyone who spends time outdoors more than an hour away from roads and towns, i.e. a great many of us living in the Bay Area who hike, bike and camp. Both days were chock-full of examples, practice and... More

I took the SOLO Wilderness First Aid class over the weekend. It was a fantastic experience. John was a great instructor, very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. He made clear the challenges we face with medical situations in the wilderness, how we need to carefully assess the environment as well as the patient to keep both of us safe.... More

The 2-day trip consisted of snow-shoeing from the Badger Pass ski resort to Dewey Point, camping for one night then returning the next day (roughly 8-9 miles of hiking). The Sport's Basement guides were awesome. Our group was full of weather, and great meals on the trip. Backpacking intro topics included: - Packing your backpack - Introduction to snowshoeing -... Awesome class that everyone should take. John is a fantastic instructor with a ton of knowledge and catered the lessons for everyone. I highly recommend the classes! Pros: - you come away with a certification and skills to help in a situation - lots of hands-on scenarios to practice your skills (learning from others) - Lots of materials to digest... More

I took their SOLO Wilderness First Aid class over a weekend. This is something I've meant to do for a while and I realized that I'd be kicking myself if something serious happened when on a backcountry trip and I had failed to take the course due to scheduling conflicts. Our instructor (John) was an experienced outdoorsman and emergency medical... More

If you've always wondered what it's like to camp in the winter with the world's most beautiful backdrop, this is the trip for you! It's physically challenging, but SB's expert guides will go out of their way to see that you get through it safe, comfortable, and well fed. Looking down on El Capitan from across the valley over breakfast... More

Sports Basement Presidio needs to get their act together and supply directions/map to get to the bridge - no one we asked who worked there had ever cycled over the bridge, I would think that would be a must.

It was an unexpected wonderful experience. Biking the hills in Marin was very challenging for me, but the beautiful route from Sports Basement to Pt. Reyes and back was well worth it. Olema campgrounds was great with hot showers. 4 meals (lunch/dinner/breakfast/lunch) throughout trip all prepared by the Sports Basement team ... I consider that luxury camping! The team was...
