The staff were excellent and the exhibits themselves too, but the venue is too small. There must be more to present on this subject. So a bigger venue and more exhibits are needed. Free entrance on Saturdays by the way.

I LOVED this museum. I can not understand the negative reviews left on here at all. Whilst it is not big I managed to spend over two hours in here - they had a exhibition on the carnival tradition which was really insightful, innovative and...More

Like others have mentioned, this is an art gallery rather than a museum. We went expecting to learn about the African diaspora but it only had a few contemporary art installations. I don't like writing a negative review of this nonprofit enterprise but potential customers...More

I love the MoAD. It is a museum where I truly feel I can access my own history. The environment is so welcoming and everyone who works there is incredibly sweet. It’s a museum you could easily see in one day, but there is more...More

Maybe the exhibits during my visit weren’t the best. There was so much potential in the beautiful building, but it was mostly projected videos with sparse explanations. I️ could have walked through the place in 15-30 minutes. Instead, I️ kept trying to figure out when...More

We decided to visit this museum rather than the adjoining San Francisco of Modern Art because we wanted to learn about the African American Diaspora rather than try to understand modern art. We should have gone to the SFMOMA because at least we would have...More

For an inexpensive entry fee one can spend hours in this two story small museum, reliving artists and musicians and events from 1967. Especially if you are a "Boomer" you will enjoy this exhibit and museum. If you are not, it's a piece of American...More

We were in this museum before, it was dark and not so interesting. Went back after remodeling, and what a difference! They have 3 current exhibits with variety of art for probably every taste. For locals - you can get free tickets through library, print...More

We had about an hour open to visit a museum before dinner, and this one was perfect. I really like this museum. They have multiple exhibits on three floors, ranging from contemplative and abstract to confrontation and challenging. I'm impressed by the curation.

This museum is so calming. The exhibits are beautiful and intriguing. I went once alone and once with friends and each time I learned something new. They also have a great gift shop with gifts for adults and children.
