Definitely not for the faint of heart. Diving the Grotto requires some physically intensive labor to get the great up and down over 190 steps, but worth every ounce of energy. This one of a kind dive spot earns it's exquisite reputation in strides.

This place is gorgeous. There is no other place like it in the World and I think if you are traveling to Saipan, then you should definitely make time to visit the Grotto. It's great for snorkeling or scuba diving...or just a quick swim! Don't miss out seeing this attraction!

The Grotto on Saipan is absolutely amazing. This is without question, a must visit site for anyone who is a fan or snorkeling or diving. My wife and I were fortunate to visit on a calm and beautiful morning and although there was a very large tour group entering the water just as we arrived, the area was large enough... More

We had a car rental so we just drove to the Grotto and happened to meet a tour guide in the parking lot. He said tourists need a guide to snorkel and swim in the Grotto for safety reasons. He ended up taking us for $30 p person. We have two teens and a 7 year old and didn't mind... More

I visited the Grotto on three separate dives (two day, one night) with Axe Murderer Tours. This is an exceptional place to dive and has multiple different paths that lead to the open ocean under the water's surface. Highly recommend diving there during both day and night to see things like turtles, octopi, lobsters, the occasional curious shark, and the... More

We did snorkelling that day, actually it was a blustery day that morning and we were told that the Grotto was closed because of the security problem and they didn't know when it would be reopen cuz it depends on weather, but we were so lucky finally it was reopen that afternoon, the coach gave everyone the life jacket, were... Although you can view the grotto from a deck at street level, trek down several dozen uneven steps and experience it close up. Posted signs state no swimming, but lots of folks climb the rocks and jump into the dark aqua water. Bring water shoes if you plan to hop in. The cavelike rock formation above with stalactite formations is... More

Don't go on a Sunday. We were told it's the most crowded day of the week. You couldn't spend much time looking around because other visitors would get in your way and there weren't many fish to see. Probably due to so many people. Other than that it was very cool to see. The water is surprisingly clear.

I did scuba diving there. I recommend it, even to non divers, since you can just snorkel. It gets a little crowded sometimes, but it's worth the visit. Keep in mind that you will have to go up and down multiple steps...
