The lower bridge, Burnside Bride, is the most accessible crossing of Antietam Creek within the battlefield property. A ranger was available for Q&A during our visit. Her presence and knowledge certainly added to the experience.

The creek isn't anything spectacular, as a matter of fact, it was quite peaceful when we crossed it on the Burnside Bridge but it's important because of the battle that took place there.

During our mid-October trip to Antietam National Battlefield, we did the 11-stop self-guided driving tour. Some distance away from the main battlefield area, we came to Sop #9 at Burnside Bridge which crosses Antietam Creek. It’s a very scenic spot. This was the site where...More

A beautiful creek loaded with history. Hiking along the creek was a great break to a hot afternoon. I loved the scenery and this was not a very well advertised part of the park.

Camped for a night at this C&O Canal campground. It is located a few hundred yards north of where Antietam Creek enters the Potomac River. It is a "walk in" campground. There is vehicle parking on side of road. You then walk your gear across...More

Best creek in the area to kayak. The water is always cold , even in August . Put in at the bridge on Boonsboro pike & take out at the Potomac. Very nice trip, avoid weekends, too busy

It's nice to look at and peaceful, but I wouldn't say there is anything really special about this place. Nothing jumped out at me to say "you should definitely go here." Go if you want to waste time waiting for your pizza to get done...More
