A great view and well worth a visit, although 10 minutes will probably cover all that's worth seeing. We stopped on our way back after visiting Bandelier.

Stopped here on the way to Bandelier. Amazing views of the river and mesas. Not in the least bit crowded, with nearby park facilities (washrooms, drinking fountains, picnic areas, etc).

An amazing view of the Rio Grande & surrounding mountains awaits. Well worth a detour to view. Almost feels you are driving the wrong way through a sports ground but keep going to reach the view point!

How old do you think these rocks are, and would you believe they have been here for 2000 some years perhaps. This huge expanse of rocky fields, and the expansive intimate clouds thread through the sky making the trails here to be worth the drive.

On a clear day you can see from Colorado to Santa Fe. Spectacular view of Black Mesa and other mesas all with the Jemez in the background. A perfect end to a day at Bandalier.

There is no overnight camping at Overlook. However, there are covered picnic ares along the canyon for day use. There is also an RV area about a mile away at the White Rock visitor center (RVs only, no tent camping).
