Refreshing

Easy to get to from various vantage points within the park...Boquillas Canyon Overlook for one. Provides for refreshing contrast to the desert heat of Big Bend.

Well I guess if you live in Texas at some point you should see the Rio Grande River. There are a few places within Big Bend parks that you can see it or have access to it. One place is along the River Road drive from Presidio to Lajitas where there is a stop to see the Hoodoos. Another would... More

The Rio Grande is one of the three features along with the Chihuahuan Desert and Chisos Mountains that makes Big Bend National Park a special place well worth visiting. Although one may be surprised by how shallow the river is most of the time and how it can be easily waded across in many places, it has stilled managed to... More

Well, that's what tripadvisor wants, so.. here goes. One reason this is tough is because there are a lot of places in Big Bend National Park (and also in nearly-adjacent Big Bend Ranch State Park), where you can get a great view of the Rio Grande, and sometimes actually stand by or in it. I'll list my favorite spot for... More

I could sit and stare at the Rio Grand for hours. It is so peaceful and quiet. This is just what you need to get away from life for a little while.

In a daring more I rode a donkey across the Rio Grande. The river was slow and the ride fun. No problem, GI

Bring your own water and supplies, summer days get really, really hot. Best early mornings to watch the canyon get lit with the sun's early rays. Take time to admire the local geology.

Beautiful historical river winding through Big Bend National Park. You can camp or hike along trails by the river.
