Asheville's first legal brewery since Prohibition was born in a downtown basement in 1994. Now a regional brewery, Highland is still family-owned. We offer the highest quality beer in welcoming and spacious venues both inside and out. An expansion in 2015 will lead to increased production, new private event spaces, and a rooftop bar above the solar array. Choose from year-round, seasonal, and several rare releases. The family-friendly atmosphere has made Highland a local favorite and a community gathering place. Tours are free - please see website for times. (Food or cash donations for local charities are appreciated.) Free music on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Visit our website for daily limited-release beer selections, events, and more.

My husband and I enjoyed the tour at Highlands immensely. Very educational plus free beer! They don't serve food, however we really enjoyed the Mexican food truck parked just outside. Delicious!

Took the free tour. Gary is a card, clearly this is the job he was born to do. Good samples (but would like more than one choice). Had a beer before leaving. We drove a full day to get there in time for this tour.

They make beer, I like beer. It's a win, win. They don't like it if you press the big red emergency button while on the tour though. They also won't give you more beer, so maybe don't do that.

We went here on our trip to Asheville for a tour and tasting. We really got a beer making education on this tour. Steve(our guide I think) really broke down the nuts and bolts of the brewing process. At Highland you actually get to walk the floor of the brewery. Very cool. They have a decent size tasting room with... More

Always have been a fan of Highland Brewery, had chance to be in Asheville so we booked a tour. The guild was knowledgeable and the free sample at the end was a plus. They also had live entertainment and a food truck on site.

Stopped by for a tour between day activities and dinner. Need to sign up on web site to reserve time for tour. Free tour, brewery has interesting history. Live music on weekends, but they only serve beer ( they did have some food trucks in parking lot). Loved the stouts, thanks Dylan for the tour!!

If you love breweries then you must stop at this one. Had a couple of food trucks and had plenty of room inside to sit. People were their with their kids and large groups and there was no problem finding seating. Great beer also!

We traveled to the brewery specifically for the tour and we left full of beer and new information! Gary our tour guide was very welcoming and full of fascinating pieces of knowledge about the historical, mythological, archaeological and scientific elements to getting tipsy on some tasty brews. We learned about the first recorded beer recipes in Mesopotamia and the still... More
