Asheville's first legal brewery since Prohibition was born in a downtown basement in 1994. Now a regional brewery, Highland is still family-owned. We offer the highest quality beer in welcoming and spacious venues both inside and out. An expansion in 2015 will lead to increased production, new private event spaces, and a rooftop bar above the solar array. Choose from year-round, seasonal, and several rare releases. The family-friendly atmosphere has made Highland a local favorite and a community gathering place. Tours are free - please see website for times. (Food or cash donations for local charities are appreciated.) Free music on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Visit our website for daily limited-release beer selections, events, and more.

We traveled to the brewery specifically for the tour and we left full of beer and new information! Gary our tour guide was very welcoming and full of fascinating pieces of knowledge about the historical, mythological, archaeological and scientific elements to getting tipsy on some tasty brews. We learned about the first recorded beer recipes in Mesopotamia and the still... More

Spent a fun Friday evening with old friends in Asheville. This is our friend's favorite brewery and I can see why. I'm a fan of their very popular Gaelic Ale. The atmosphere is low key and family friendly and they even do tours.

We had 4:30 reservations for a brewery tour. We checked in at least twice. The man working the merchandise told us he would be leading the tour. He then proceeded to ask us to leave the merchandise area so he could wait on other people. After waiting 15 minutes, we determined the tour was not going to happen. So we... More

After trying a six-pack of the Oatmeal Porter, I knew I wanted to make the pilgrimage here to where the Porter was born. The draught version is a little hopier than the bottled version, but still good. We tried a flight and enjoyed MOST of the four darkest beers they served. The mocha wasn't our fave, but it was plenty... More

Attended my second release party at Highlands, this one for a awesome beer brewed by veterans. Participated in the tour for the first time, it was interesting and full of cool beer brewing/shipping facts. Looking forward to Black Friday and some amazing Black Watch. The rooftop bar is a very nice addition. I will have to plan a sunset visit.

The other day I went on my second brewery tour at Highland and had another excellent experience. This time I organized a group outing with a club I belong to. The tour was not overly crowded and the guide was great. It started with a little demonstration of the ingredients that go into beer production as we, the guests, enjoy... More

My husband and I went here yesterday for the first time yesterday afternoon and it is great! Rooftop and inside seating, also main floor seating and large outdoor green space with outdoor bar! Friendly staff. We each had a Gaelic beer, sitting under the tall trees, out back with our dog, watching families play. Very pleasant afternoon

Landed at Highland's tasting room a couple weeks back to sample some of the delciousness that is the Thunderstruck Coffee Porter. Recently unveiled for the 2016-17 season. I've had it in bottles, but wanted to sample at the source. It lived up to all expectations! The Black Mocha Stout was also divine! The tasting room (Saturday afternoon) was filled with... More
