We just returned from Shindig on the Green. They are always providing us with great entertainment! Last year, we saw WAR at the leaf festival on the same stage. This year was The Family Stone, and the Shindigs are several Saturdays in Juky and August.

Local street musicians and performers in the square in the evening, give it a vibrant feel with there is a beautiful fountain and an obelisk for great photos. Plenty of good restaurants are on the square, making it a natural magnet for tourists and locals.

This is a delight to come upon when walking through Asheville. The park gives a great flavor sample of the area. We observed local musicians and artists and even saw a hula hoop contest!

Our two year hold had to be dragged away today! Nice overcast day and tons of fun running in the water and splashing around! Perfect FREE activity in Asheville for little ones.

Lovely urban park. Spots of shade and benches. Water/splash a fountain for kids. Lawn area is used for concerts, outdoor yoga, people lounging/relaxing/reading, etc.

The park was very pretty but there was a yoga convention going on when we were there. That was fun as well but you can see that the fountain is a great place to relax while visiting

Lots of restaurants and shopping of different types. I really liked the open air concert on Saturday. This is okay if you have kids- but no playground.

Our two-year-old love playing in the water and being surprised where the waterspouts popped up and disappeared from

We spent a pleasant couple of hours here on a very hot and humid day, reading books and watching folks come an go, kids playing in the fountains, and enjoying the breeze.

The "center" of downtown Asheville. Delicious looking Chocolate shop right on the square. Lots of restaurants on the square as well. Look for the hippie with the blue typewriter sitting on the sidewalk. What the heck is he typing????
