I'm not scared of heights but as I was walking up the tight winding steps, no windows in dead head, I did feel my knees buckle. Got to the top, amazing view, but I knew I had to get back down!

Bunker Hill is located just a few minutes walk from the USS Constitution and offers fantastic views across Charlestown and Boston. The walk up the hill contains some beautiful scenery full of old-world style architecture and is part of the Freedom Trail.

I thought that the museum was very well done and I learned a lot that I did not know about the area. They have the display area set up "in the round" where you walk around the outside and learn the history and then move inside the circle and learn more. I thought the museum was well done. Great museum with all sorts of colonial history. Bill Nye is featured in a video. Washrooms are on the lower level. There's a noteworthy "no firearms" sign on the front door.

Not easily seen unless you look but just below the monument there is a small museum dedicated to the battle. As well as info, artefacts and a small shop there is a large diorama that takes you through the battle in stages and explains what happened. The museum is free as well and the toilets are very clean.

History? Check. Beautiful historic neighborhood? Check. Views of the water? Check. Places to sit or stroll? Check. Well kept landscape? Check. Parking - not so much! One of my favorite places to visit in Boston.

It was amazing to visit this place. The views from this point are Awesome! The monument is lit at night and is a sight to see. You can read different plaques on the history of the site.

I always enjoying climbing anything, towers, bell towers, etc. The view from the top was brilliant. If you climbing stairs you'll enjoy Bunker Hill.

This is a great attraction and as its in federal land the museum and obelisk are free careful the 294 steps in the hot weather though it's a killer

Staying in Charlestown

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlestown
Charlestown’s hilly roads, narrow streets and gaslight lamps, make it an enticing neighborhood to visit. Follow the Freedom Trail over the Washington St bridge from the North End or take the scenic water locks to Paul Revere Park. Walk through City Square and stroll down cute Main street, wandering up the windy residential streets to Monument Square, where you can learn about the city’s history along with a great view of Boston at the Bunker Hill Monument. While it’s not a huge area, there are some excellent restaurants. Find your way to the Charlestown Navy Yard, which is a developing area with lots of condos and an additional site for Massachusetts General Hospital research centers. Here you will also find the USS Constitution Museum. After you’re done, hop on an MBTA ferry at the dock on Baxter street and zip on over to Long Wharf and the New England Aquarium.
