This tony neighborhood--one of the two most expensive residential areas in Boston--started as a bay. The bay was filled in during the 19th century to create the area now known by the name Back Bay. The area is known for its Victorian brownstones, the Boston Public Library, shopping, office high rises and upscale hotels.

Lots of shops and high end restaurants with some interesting history of old Boston wealth settling here years ago. Easy access from the subway.

The Back Bay of Boston is where the action is. Wonderful hotels, fabulous restaurants, shop till you drop, Overwhelming HISTORY everywhere. I loved it. Took a bay cruise, checked out "Old Ironsides", said hello to the Boston Commons. What's not to like?

The Back Bay area in Boston is quite beautiful. There are lots of restaurants to choose from and nice little shops to shop at, too. A nice park to visit, as well.

Still a nice place to walk on a pretty day, but all the old boutiques and galleries are turning into chain stores. The block of Boylston from Arlington to Berkeley in particular is nearly bare now.
