Neighbourhood: Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.

So wonderful that the city decided to replace a freeway with a linear park like this. Of course, it wasn't cheap (that's a whole different discussion). Amazing green space in the concrete jungle. Kids were frolicing in the spray pads. We older people enjoyed the swings near Hanover. Nice place to take a load off during touring. There is also a nice beer garden near the aquarium.

This is a beautiful Green Space in the heart of the City, much smaller but just as beautiful as NYC’s Central Park. A great place to just sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city on a beautiful day.

My hotel overlooked a section of the Greenway near the North End. It was a welcome sight, people walking dogs, practicing athletics in teams, sitting on swings, walking to work. It is quite lengthy; I only walked part of it. What a good idea this was!

When this reviewer first heard of the Boston "Kennedy Greenway", I was little bit skeptical, thinking it was just a bit of landscaping stuck there and there between the streets. Far from it! One day after visiting the Boston Tea Party Museum, we walked west to the Greenway (which has its southern end roughly at Dewey Square), and then followed its serpentine course as it wound its way north and west to its end just west of Hannover Street.
It seemed to this reviewer that each block of the Greenway was designed to be different from the others. One always wondered what the landscaping, and path course, and sculptures one might see after passing the next cross-street.
Notice the large swings on the sections around Hannover Street. Check out the fine views there back toward downtown. Make a slight detour south on Hannover, if there happens to be street market set up that day.
Overall, the Greenway was an attractive and pleasant stroll through the middle of very busy Boston.

This is a lovely small garden set amongst the Harbor area. You can walk to it from the Marriott Wharf . It has a beautiful array of flowers as well as beautiful roses. Knowing the love the Kennedy family and so many shared for Mrs. Rose Kennedy, this is a very memorial to her. Very serene and beautiful.

It was nice to be outdoors in the green in the middle of Boston. In autumn there was some good colour on the leaves, but fewer flowers.
It's a shame you have to keep crossing the roads intersecting the little parks, reminding you you're in the middle of a highway.

We walked almost the whole of the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Boston is so fortunate to have this greenway and it's an irresistible place for a stroll on a beautiful day.

The greenway shows what is possible when political will meets public expectations. Because the old elevated highway split the city into two it created no-go dead zones that have been revived by this beautiful swath of parkland on the edge of old Boston reuniting the harbour with the city.

It's a beautiful park with an extraordinary history of cost overruns and delays in completion. Makes seeing the local attractions very pleasant and honors a great lady.

When is the sculpture available to see? Are there certain days or times? Thank you!

As the others have said, the sculpture, which is suspended high in the air by wires that are barely visible, can be viewed 24/7. A bright sunny day really brings out all the different shades of blues, oranges, etc. On windy days the sculpture is a truly "free spirit" dancing across the Boston skyline.
