Being the only couple to sign up for a Monday, we took a private walking tour with Martin a couple of weeks ago and couldn't have enjoyed it more. Martin was very knowledgeable about the North End area and was personable and engaging throughout the entire tour (around 2.5 hrs). He shared information about the history of the area, certain... Nicole's tour of the North End with three pizza stops was very informative and yummy! Nicole knows a lot of the history here and made the tour even more enjoyable with her stories. Thank you, Nicole!

We had a great time. We did the North end pizza tour. Martin was a great guide. He answered questions and was so friendly and helpful with suggestions of places we should see and try.We had a mixture of history, a nice walk , and pizza. He took us to Ernesto's which was amazing and the crust was perfect, Regina... More

Chicago has deep dish, NYC is known for it's thin crust, but Boston - there is no true "Boston style pizza", and that's what makes this city's pizza scene so unique! Whether you like classic American pizza pies, square Sicilian slices, Bakery pizza or Neapolitan style - Boston has it! Thanks Zan! More

I didn't really know what to expect in this tour. My boyfriend had found it on tripadvisor so we thought, what the heck? We both like pizza, and don't know much about Boston. The tour guide, Martin, was hilarious! He's also the smartest person I have ever met when it comes to both pizza, and Boston. The first slice of... More

Martin is very funny (funny looking mostly!) and we're so happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with Boston Pizza Tours! Yes folks, Boston's pizza scene does indeed merit accolades like "best slice of pizza I've ever had in my entire life", and "transformational experience of the first slice"! Thanks for the review and reco - let's hear it... More

I have taken many food tours and pizza tours in many different cities in the US and abroad, but this was disappointing. I liked the area, the walk and the history provided by the guide, but based on my experiences with other tours, these are the areas that were lacking: No interaction with the establishment staff. The guide did give... More

So sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your tour. Boston Pizza Tours is indeed a "walking tour of the North End with 3 stops for a slice". However our tours also include Colonial & Revolutionary history, cultural points of interest, sightseeing and more. Boston's North End is a tiny (and very busy!) neighborhood with 15,000 residents and 100+... More

Great pizza choices with a good dose of history on the side. The tour guide was very skilled and demonstrated knowledge of local sites. Great for locals and visitors who want a dose of history and good pizza.

We loved Martin and this tour! He gave us the rich history behind this wonderful city. We were first timers visiting the city so this was a fantastic way to start our day. We visited and took this tour on a beautiful sunny Spring Sunday. It is a perfect way to get a true taste of the history of the North End. Layers of life from colonial times, immigrant waves and its current gentrification are brought to life. Add in the conversation that is focused around the history of pizza and some tasting... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
