There are several things that come to mind when you mention Boston, Samuel Adams Brewery should be one if you enjoy beer. I recommend the First Mash of the Day tour if you can. You can obtain the tickets for free via Eventbrite. The tour is free with a keg for donations of $2 if you would like. The entire... More

This tour is well worth your trip to Jamaica Plain. Went there around Easter of last year, and caught the last tour of the day. Super guide, explained the process well, and we left with enough samples stowed in our gullets to make the walk to the subway just a little more exciting. Great time.

The original Sam Adams brewery offers a morning tour which includes tastings of some of their limited edition specialty beers. The basic tour is brief, but informative, covering the ingredients: barley, hops, water, and yeast; and the apparatus and process of brewing. The real charm of this tour is found in the tasting room, where the humorous and instructive presentation... More

I've done the tour at Sam Adams more times than I can remember and have always enjoyed it. The guides have always been informative, and generally are entertaining. Other reviews have complained about the relative inactivity of the brewery, but this is to be expected given they only use this location for test brews and making local beers in small... More

This was the highlight of my Boston visit! The tour guide was hilarious and informative and there was of course a ton of free beer to sample. It was really a great experience overall. Bonus: easy and FREE parking. You will not find a better gig in this city which I've become not such a fan of.

As said, good tour, good that it's free but with a suggested charity donation. Tour guides were informative and amusing. Got to taste 3 different beers, the winter warmer was excellent. Little way out of the city and then a 5 min walk from the T station.

What a great place to visit, Very interesting to see how Sam Adams is made, Steve the tour guide was brilliant he made the tour more than just telling us about what happened in the process of making beer

The brewery tour itself was a little crowded and loud. I was hard to hear everything the guide had to say. In the tasting room, we were served three different types of beer, by the pitcher, for the table to share. The guide instructed us on the proper way to sample the beer for the best tasting experience. I enjoyed... More

I love beer. I love touring brewing facilities. I did not love my visit to Sam Adams. I was able to take the Orange Line to Stony Brook, no problem. However, there is no clear signage or help to find the brewery straight from the station. A local thankfully pointed us in the right direction. Upon arrival, we were told... More

Staying in Jamaica Plain

Neighbourhood Profile
Jamaica Plain
This Boston neighborhood feels like a distinct community unique and separate from the bustle of other areas. Beautiful Victorian homes, restaurants with an emphasis on being eco-friendly and providing local and organic food, and a large Hispanic community. Visit Centre and South streets for restaurants, cafes, and little shops. The Arnold Arboretum is a beautiful, large green space well worth a visit if you venture to JP.
