Took the ferry over to Spectacle Island, one of the Boston Harbor Islands, for a round trip fee of $17. It's pretty enough, but there really isn't much to it and there's nothing to do there. I only stayed for a half hour and got...More

A 20 minute ferry ride from Long Wharf in Boston takes you to a beautiful small island with walking trails, swimming beach, beautiful views of the city and of the other harbor islands. A wonderful getaway from the city. Gorgeous fields of wildflowers and grasses.

I went here with a friend and we spent about 2 hours wandering around the island. The little restaurant was cute, a bit pricey but they have a captive audience. There was also live jazz which was nice.

Spectacle Island was a great little dose of nature when we needed a break from the city. We love Boston and have visited many times but I was looking to explore something new. We brought one teenager, some snacks and swimsuits. Took the 11:30 ferry...More

We went there on a bright sunny day coz that's the kind of weather which is best suited for a picnic on the Island. We took a ferry from Boston. We got the ferry from Long Wharf. We had booked the tickets online in order...More

Spectacle Island is one of several beautiful islands created by glaciers in the Ice Age saved by the United States Park Service from being a garbage dump for Boston. Paths wander around and over the island giving beautiful views of Boston. Walking around the island...More

We went there because we wanted to visit one of the islands. When we got there we learned that it was formerly used as a trash site. The 'park rangers' are well educated and offer tours, there's also information boards along a self-educated way. It...More

You can only get there by boat. Bring lunch, hike the island, enjoy the views. Please note what ever you bring over, you must bring back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our half day trip to Spectacle Island - leaving on the 10:30 BHC ferry and returning at 3:30. On the outgoing trip a guide explained the sights in the Boston Harbor and talked about the interesting history of Spectacle Island - from...More

We had no idea that there were so many islands to see in the Boston Harbor. The boat trip offered incredible views of the city. While on the island we were able to take a swim, hike all over the island and take in the...More

North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like
being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and
Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants,
bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part
in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or
Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma
sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s
home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church

They have a workshop on sea glass during the summer, but we did not walk the beach so we cannot confirm that there is sea glass. We walked on the trails on the island. I believe the ferry stops running to Spectacle Island by... More

Sea glass certainly washes up there, but collecting it is forbidden by the Park Service.

That is a great question! I believe you could take a ferry from Hingham (or Salem MA but that is north).
