This unexpected United States Armed Forces Memorial is just lovely. There are granite and brick memorials outside and flags that represent each state. It is breathtaking. The neighborhood can seem a little sketchy, but it is really pretty safe. If you are here, you are really close to Porubsky's and should grab lunch!!

As a Architectural Photographer, I love historic Depots. This is one of the best, with a beautiful Flag Display on the grounds.

we scheduled our visit during one of the quarterly Harvey Girl luncheons. The food was great and the staff were very knowledgeable about the history and railroads in general

First, it is not the most beautiful historic train station I have ever seen, but it reminds people how important the train routes were in the past. The volunteer we spoke with was enthusiastic in describing the restoration of the building. Trains were passing by when we were there and that was cool. The photos and exhibits were very good... Great place to take kids they have a while train set up right as you walk in. It is nice to walk around the whole building and learn so much about the history of the place and the trains. And the people that work there were very helpful and full of info that we wanted to know. I absolutely recommend... More

You really get to know and learn that car and bus and plane travel is so taken for granted when you think of how people moved across the country on the train line. Such a beautiful building. It's fantastic history to learn about.

This is a building. I wish I could a bit more descriptive, descriptive and a bit more descriptive but it's just a building next to The Rescue Mission. A few trains go once in awhile, too.

In the days before travel meant simply getting from one place to another as quickly as possible, and before air travel became the first consideration, places like the Great Overland Station were built. Built in the 1920's this station on perhaps the most famous railroad line the the world, the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe, with it's elegance restored is... More

The restored Union Pacific Station is a gem. Though not organized as a restored train station with rail-memorabilia such as the ticket windows, train boards, etc., the atmosphere of a great State Capitol station worthy to board government officials and visitors to the seat of Kansas government is outstanding. The railroad truly made an effort to show its best foot... More
