Ok, I've only seen 2, but so far, this was the most beautiful! From the alcoves of bells, to the living quarters of Padre Junipero Franciso, we enjoyed walking the grounds and the buildings of this mission. As I understand it, the current location was...More

This exquisitely maintained mission is open to the public with only a request for a small entrance fee contribution. The gardens are lush with palms, succulents, agaves and flowers. Beautiful statuary is widely distributed. Located on the outskirts of San Diego, it is reached most...More

We walked from the tram only to find that the shop was closing early it being a holiday. However we were able to see the church and its surroundings and only missed the museum

The mission is the starting point for the development of California. Interesting to see how they lived and how modest their daily existence was. Certainly worth the time and effort to see.

We have been trying to see each of the missions. We enjoyed seeing this mission and the grounds. The missions are a big part of California history so seeing each of these has been very nice.

As soon as you enter this beautiful historic complex, the world seems to become simpler. The mission church itself has a powerfully simple beauty. The courtyard is a pleasing place to pause and enjoy the flowering trees and bushes, as well as statuary. The staff...More

California coast has the most historic missions of the country. Hard to imagine people setting in the middle of no where and living in such spartan conditions to serve in their faith. Truly a humbling experience.

Great place to visit and remember the history of California. Kind of out-of-the way from Old Town but worth the trip. Interesting to walk the grounds and remember that this is where California began. Nice gift shop too!

This is the first mission in California but it is smaller than the others I have visited. You can be in and out in less than 30min. They cover the history of the site from the earliest founding through it's time as a military fort...More
