Ending our vacation in California allways takes place on Shelter Island. I love the Maratime atmosphere and the cosyness here. You might wanna dine a the Brigatine, a very nice Sportsbar and Grill or just walk along the Island. It is closeby the Airport which is nice as a tourist.

Just a stretch away.. Walk the Littoral.. View some yachts.. Catch the drift.. Ride the waves.. Spend some silence with the sea..

It is a cool place to take a walk in San Diego; from this side on the bay, you have a good look on SAN downtown and its skyline. There are few sculptures on the walkway. The up and down takes about 1 hour.

We stopped here for a short stroll and walked out on the fishing pier. We were lucky to see an aircraft carrier coming into port. There was plenty of parking and no crowds.

I wouldn't really make a point of going there unless you have a hotel there. But it was a great place to stay with views of the Marinas.

I stayed at Humpreys Half Moon and Suites in Shelter Island and the atmosphere was magical. Surrounded by palm trees and on the marina, the view was so relaxing. Only thing was there weren't many places to eat at that were in walking distance except restaraunt at hotel. It is surrounded by boat builders or boat repair places.

Both man made Islands have it all. Best views, peaceful, great hotels with great entertainment, easy access to airport & downtown San Diego! Plenty of restaurants and grass to take a nap on.

Harbor and Shelter Islands have some great views of the Big Bay and offer access to lots of water activities and seafood markets. Jimmy fat's is a awesome restaurant with a waterfront location on Shelter Island. Get the fried chicken!
