We found street parking by the Del Mar Canyon Preserve and was able to pay a reasonable hourly rate instead of the flat rate in the parking lot.
It took us around 10 minutes to get to the beach. We took a short cut down that crossed over the railroad tracks. Not as nice compared to the beach parking lot but not difficult to navigate.
The beach itself was expansive and not crowded at all. The views were beautiful as we wandered on the soft sand.

Great place to soak in views of the horizon. You can also do parasailing here and eat some good food.

My family went here on a Monday after lunch. We parked up on the road and did the trail down to the beach. You do have to cross a train track so be careful. There were hardly any people on the beach. It was clean, peaceful and beautiful.

Some dangerous looking cliffs. Stand at the edge and you can feel the waves caressing the hill below your feet. Great scenery and a great hike. If this does not tire you, spend the day at the Torrey Pines Golf course across the road!

The views are great and at $15 for all-day, you should plan ahead and stake a place out. Even on a sunny day in January it's worth visiting. Plus, you can drive or walk up the bluffs and hike all the amazing outlooks for such amazing pictures.

I love that parking, bathrooms, and showers are all very convenient and close to the beach. Parking cost a grip of cash, but well worth the convenience. We have spent many hours there with our children from 1-18 and it's a great beach.

i went to the beach during my hike in the torrey pines natural reserve. i posted a youtube video that includes a vlog, tips and suggestions for all hiking levels, so you can be prepared. you can find a link to my youtube on my profile or you can look me up: nikko gandia.
the entrance fee was $25 on a sunday. there's free parking before the entrance available if you just want to go to the beach. there's paid parking for the beach and up top for the hiking trails.
i hiked the guy fleming trail loop, which had beautiful overhead views of the cliffs, ocean and the san diego coast. easy trail with minimal elevation.
i also hiked to the red butte and down to the beach. easy trail with about 300 ft of elevation gain.

Torrey Pines State Park has a $15 fee to enter. Once inside you drive up to the top of the bluff where there are city and ocean views and many walking trails. There is also a small historical adobe lodge with a docent to answer any questions for you.

Helo. We are renting a condo on Mission Bay and are very close to Misson Beach. We will have two 17 yr old teens with us.
Is it worth driving to Torrey Pines beach with the teens or is Mission Beach enough for them? Will they get enjoyment out of Torrey Pines beach?Im trying to plan our days and I dont want to waste time and money to park if Torrey Pines beach is not much better than Mission/Pacific beach. Thank you so much!

Mission Beach and Pacific Beach (just walking distance north of Mission Beach) are just as good as Torrey.
Enjoy.
