One of our favorite get aways its to travel 2 hours south to San Diego for a weekend of theater. The San Diego contains several excellent venues for theater. On of our favorites is the Diversionary Theater in the University Park area of the city....More

The theater is just what I'm always hunting for; somewhat smaller, more intimate, experimental, original and with good acting. San Diego and La Jolla have some highly branded, excellent theaters, like the Old Globe for example. However, there's much more to the theater scene in...More

The few shows we attended were great. We wished that parking was more convenient though (driving around for a long time in search of parking). Make sure you plan accordingly.

This is one of the best theaters in San Diego. It was founded in 1986 to provide quality theatre for the LGBT community. So of course, their subject matters will be relevant to that community, but as a straight person, I've enjoyed every performance I've...More

This small theater welcomes all, and provides innovative and interesting programming that speaks to all parts of the community. We have been subscribers for many years, and see nothing be better and better times ahead.

Been to this theatre several times in the past and just saw BARE, a Rock Opera with the largest cast I ever saw on this postage stamp stage. Once again, Diversionary Theatre delivered great performances by young talented artists and a terrific 4 piece band....More

My sisters and I had a wonderful time seeing Sherantulas from Outer Space. All 5 of the actors were wonderful in their roles--and some of them had quite a few roles! The lead actor Phil Johnson, who also co-authored the play, was so much fun...More

This is a small theatre with approximately 75-100 seats. You really can not get a bad seat in this small intimate setting. Being this small it really makes you feel like you are part of the cast and can easily see everything going on. We...More

This theater company is loud and proud of the San Diego gay community. They often perform original plays adapted from old standards, adding gay/lesbian elements that permeate the performance. Often hilarious, often thought provoking, always getting thier message of equality and liberty to anyone who...More
