This is a beautiful cavern. Worth the money and if you can make sure to watch the bats leave the cave at night.

My wife and I have visited caves all over the US. Besides Mammoth Cave this is the largest. The most unusual thing about this cave is that the tour is self guided. We took the long walk through the natural opening (as opposed to taking...More

The caverns really are a wonder. They are beautiful and it is so interesting how they were formed. I would advise getting the mobile tour if doing self guided. It really gives a better picture of what exactly you're looking at then just how unique...More

This was our first stop on our way to Albuquerque. I had been when I was a child and I knew my kids would love it too. There are elevators that take you directly to the Big Room, but we chose to walk it. I...More

Just a few words about the Carlsbad Caverns. It must be checked off your bucket list before you die. Incredible!

You might be able to see bats in the sky in the surrounding area but check the park website. It should have the times listed where the bats actually start to fly out.

I think I saw that, yes some areas are but not all the paths down inside the Cave. There is an elevator that can take you down below. Might want to check the website.
