As expected this was great experience. Went on Easter Sunday and was not overcrowded and you could easily view the exhibitions without people butting into you all the time. Very nice relaxed atmosphere and could view the early 20th century interior exhibition which I take great inspiration from, as a design student and the Nan Goldin exhibition which was very... More

Visited here on a very wet and rainy day with my family so a perfect indoor activity! The queue to get our tickets was fast and received them within minutes. We weren't really into art but wanted to give it a go and we weren't disappointed! Such a lovely set out for all to experience the art and other various pieces... More

This museum is obviously a must see when in NY. But I would really only recommend this museum if you love modern art, otherwise you may be left wanting more. It was an amazing experience for what it is. There were so many people and it is not as spacious as other museums in NY, so it often felt cramped... More

Do pay in advance - easy to do online, if you can leave your bag elsewhere do as the queue for the bag check was long too. In April many galleries were closed, which was disappointing, but some sublime Kandinsky's and Van Gogh's on the 4th floor.

If you like or interested in modern art do not miss visiting the Museum of Modern art. It is easy to get around, and has good signage. And the café is very good. It has very interesting permanent exhibits as well as great special exhibits.

I have always heard great things about the MOMA and it did not disappoint! They do not let you bring back packs in, but do provide a free coat check for them if you are carrying one. The museum was free to visit Fridays after 4pm!

MoMA was an incredible experience featuring the world's best art. I really enjoyed the websites audio tour as well which helped viewing the art to be more in depth with curator commentary.

We found by accident that the MOMA is free on Friday late afternoons. Many people know about this so it is crowded but so worth the marvelous choice of art to look at. History abounds.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
