Like so many big city streets, 5th avenue has seen better times (there used to be more high end Department stores, e.g. Altman's and Bonwit Teller) but it's still has many attractions, not least Rockefeller Center, McKim Mead & White's fabulous University Club (at 54th st.) Saks original store, some beautiful churches and the legendary St. Regis, Gotham (Now Peninsula)... More

Very nice long street of shops and sights, an attraction in itself just to walk up or down 5th Avenue... Important for visitors that 5th Ave runs North to South and East and West Streets start from 5th Ave.. remember that and you will find your way around New York very easily

Lots of store to choose from to do your shopping. I had great picture taking opportunities as well. You cant miss seeing Trump Towers of Tiffany's while there.

Went for a browse down Fifth Avenue when me and the wife were in NYC in November 2016. It's a shoppers paradise.. Everything is here that you could want... You also have other attractions here like the Rockefeller Centre, Trump Tower and The Empire State Building to name a few.. You could spend a few days just browsing the shops... More

If there is one take-away about this location, it would be the concentration of high and middle-tier shopping stores. Saks Fifth Avenue, H&M and Coach are all here. As someone who prefers history and nature, its not my cup of tea but would recommend if you have some money to spend on gifts or other items for yourself or family/friends.... More

Christmas eve morning on 5th avenue, the decorations in and on the stores were amazing. The crowds weren't too bad but if you go back in the evening make sure you agree meeting points It is so busy now I know how a salmon feels swimming up stream.

This was fabulous and wonderful to wander up and down but only if you have money to spend. THe shops are amazing and so so expensive and it leads right to Central Park. Was a highlight of our visit.

What a great time to stroll down the fifth! We walked from 42nd all the way to ground zero. Was nice and enjoyable. If you want to shop it's very quiet. Love the fish anytime!!!!!

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
