Many years ago it was always a pleasure to visit Times Square. My office was three blocks away so I often walked there. During the day it now seems to have lost its lustre of old but when I happened to cross it last night all the colourful magic of the big Apple returned and colour and glitter of this... More

Go see Time Square from dusk and/or late night to see the lights and the crowd. Great place to people watch to observe some of the locals who like to preach or observe the tourists do their thing, posing for photos and/or selfies. You may be entertained as we had during our visit there.

I absolutely love Times Square! The fast pace city life isn't for me but I love being in the middle of these beautiful buildings and billboards! The stores, cafes, restaurants, well placed! It is ALWAYS busy there! They don't call NYC the city that doesn't sleep for no reason. Times Square is always crawling with people, of all ages!

Crass commercialism at its finest. Impossibly big crowds, impossibly bright lights. Talk about a carbon footprint! This city has so many things of substance to offer - spend your time elsewhere.

It's bright and in your face but it's great. Loads going on, great atmosphere and it's really busy. Great places to eat too

First time to NYC. Strolled Time Square during the day and returned in the evening. Exciting and lively. Street entertainment in the evening is very good. Take time to sit in the seating stand and take in the bright lights. You will not be disappointed.

Lively place, bright lights / neon signs, shops open do a bit of late night shopping, sit and do a bit of people watching, which can be quite interesting !! A place with plenty buzz, just be aware of the cartoon characters / clowns, they can be a bit aggressive.

Stepping out of the hotel onto Times Square is just overwhelming. Have never seen so many selfies taken here than in any other country i have travelled to. Lots of construction taking place at the moment so streets are very congested. Best thing to do is grab a bite to eat find a place to sit and watch the world... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
