We had been to NYC several times and were looking for something a little different. Seeing Brooklyn and tasting our way through the borough was a lot of fun. Rick, our guide, was knowledgeable and interesting. The food was great and the driver did an amazing job.

This was such fun! Our guide, Bert, was entertaining, knowledgeable, and respectful of a neighborhood he clearly loves. It was a perfect balance of food and history. I cannot wait to go back to NYC, so I can spend more time in the village! Thank you Food of New York Tours. Nancy.

I've been to Chelsea Market several times with guests but never took a walking tour until today. Wow!! What a fun tour! Darryl was an entertaining and knowledgeable tour guide, and so full of history and stories about the neighborhood. I would definitely seek him out again as a tour guide. I learned so many interesting details about the market... More

The original Greenwich tour was wonderful. Everything on the food tasting was delicious and large portions. I was stuffed. RJ was a delight, very informative and aware of his customers comfort. I was definitely do this tour again.

I had a wonderful time on the Chelsea Market tour. The tour is worth every penny. It's three hours and there are more tastings than what is advertised. Robin was a great guide with lots of fun facts about the market and surrounding areas. Highly recommend this tour!

My family took the Heart of Greenwich Village Tour and it was terrific. I will force myself to keep the review brief only because I do not want to spoil anything. Our guide was Barry and she was phenomenal! From beginning to end she was engaging and full of knowledge. Obviously we came for the food, but received so much... More

My partner and I did the Original Greenwich Village tour with RJ as our guide. I have previously done the Nolita tour a few years ago and wanted to explore a different area. It was a fantastic experience for both of us. We stopped at around 8 different locations with tastings at each. The food was fabulous at all locations,... More

I can't say enough about how great of an experience this was. I live in NYC and had my mom visiting from Pennsylvania. She's spent a good amount of time in NYC also, so we don't normally do touristy things, but we love food and were looking for something to do on MLK Day, so we decided to try out... More

I did the Original Greenwich tour on January 14 with my 2 kids (girls aged 11 and 7) and our au pair. We've lived in New York for ~16 years and although we thought we knew the West Village the tour was a breath of fresh air, showing me things that were surprising and novel. The food was spectacular (kids... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
