Founded in 1923 as a private, nonprofit corporation, the Museum connects the past, present, and future of New York City. It serves the people of New York and visitors from around the world through exhibitions, school and public programs, publications, and collections. Currently Under Construction: "New York at its Core" a landmark three gallery exhibition covering NYC's 400+ year history. Coming this November!

I went to see the exhibit of World War I posters which was fascinating but the Stettheimer Dollhouse was incredible. It was created over 30 years and donated to the Musuem in the 1940's

Interesting museum and worth a visit particularly if you are not familiar with the history of New York. I was hoping for a bit more about the period when the Dutch were in control. You need a few hours.
