An interesting building to walk around - the décor and architecture are interesting in their own right, but if your are a movie buff - its more fun - checking out locations!!

Other than the beauty of the building itself, inside you can't really see much. Most if the areas are closed to the public. No really old works on display. Really disappointed in the availability of content. I would skip wasting your time there. Go to grand central instead.

This was my favorite free thing to do in NYC, but then again libraries always make me happy. You don't have to be a book lover to appreciate the architecture of this place. When we went they also had exhibits on Hamilton ( in honor of the the musical) and Winnie-the- Pooh. It's a great place to take the kids... More

The children's room is incredible. You can enter it easily by using the 42nd Street side entrance. It is massive and the women who work there are happy to help with suggestions.

The modern world boasts five great libraries: The Lilbrary of Congress in Washington, The British Library in London, the Lenin Library in Moscow, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris and, of course, the NYPL, which is by far the most accessible. Anyone with ID (a driver's license or passport will suffice) can visit the catalog room and request one or more... More

Another must see! Wander the beautiful halls and see the awesome Rose Room. Free entry with the usual bag checks. The gift shop has some quirky souvenirs. The Christmas tree was wonderful and a great photo opportunity.

This is a great building, guided tours are best as they get you in areas not always open to the general public. Some artwork of notable interest.

A beautiful taste of perfect architecture. The vaulted ceilings loom above in almost a maze like pattern. There was also a printmaking display free to the public. This is a definite destination for an artists mind.

This is worth a visit to see the impressive and beautiful architecture. The main reading room is on level 3. The gift shop has many gorgeous books and trinkets for sale - my daughter bought 3 pencil cases!!!

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
