The building is nice

It's a great building. I wouldn't take the time to see this on your first time to the city but worth seeing if your a frequent visitor.

Great old structure but massive crowds and hard to get around or figure out what to see or do. Never did find the books

The best library I ever seen. The architect is totally AWESOME. It is a must place even if you just walk through. It is hard to explain but one of those awesome places.

We really enjoyed the free public tour and learning the history of the library. The architecture is incredible. We also loved the Winnie the Pooh exhibit. There is free wifi, but it's relatively unreliable if you're walking around the library. I suspect in the study rooms it might be better.

We took a guided tour of the New York Public Library. The library was decorated for Christmas. The tree and decorations were beautiful. We took the 2pm tour which was very informative. We learned the history of the building, the architecture and what is archived here. There were some exhibits we were able to do self guided. We saw the... More

This place is a must visit and entry is free. The Rose Reading room has been renovated and is simply spectacular. One of the highlights for a lover of all this beautiful and historical. There are no queues to enter..some of your finest NY pics will be taken here both in and out.

a must see, especially the reading room. the whole building is an architectural jewel and dates back to a time when builders and architects still cared about what they were building

It has been one of my dreams to visit this library & I was not let down! From the moment you walk up and into the library the architecture is awe inspiring. I cannot stress the beauty of this library enough. Definitely a must see when in NYC!! Plan on 2-3 hours and think twice before bringing small children as... More

This is an impressive library to see, with huge ceilings and impressive architecture it's well worth stopping in. It's not really the best place in the world to read a book since much of the library is very open and caverness. There are however two things not to miss for the average tourist in New York. First of all the... More

Went to see the recently reopened Rose Reading Room. Found so many other unexpected exhibits here, including original Dickens manuscripts. Beautiful, and FREE, which is a rarity in NYC.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
