Lets face it, New York tours are only as good as their tour guides. Real New York Tours gives people the opportunity to see the city through the eyes of real New Yorkers. Real New York Tours explores the history, the cracks and crevices, the side streets, and culture of real New York neighborhoods. We’ll ride the New York subway, pound the pavement, and meet the people who have become the fabric of this great city. Together we will feel the electricity that drives everyday New Yorkers. Our family took the LOWER MANHATTAN "THEN AND NOW" Group Tour. Tour is almost completely outdoors. Make sure you dress for the weather - it was very breezy and cold by Battery Park the day we went. Wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking involved. Saw many sights and learned about the history of NY through this... More

Our full day tour started from our hotel. Shawn met us in our hotel and off we went on what was a fanatastic day. Our party three ladies aged 54, 50 and 20 were after reading other reviews well prepared for the walking. Good footware and all wrapped up against the bitter Manhattan weather. We covered so much thanks to... More

We recently did a 7 hour walking tour with Gregory S from RealNewYorkTours. He shared New York’s history, its architecture, its problems its achievements, he showed us so many places, taught us how to use the subway, shared his first hand experience of 911, and took us to ‘Joe’s pizza’ where all the movie stars go. We had the best... More

Walking the city, taking the subway, what better way to catch the sights, sounds, and smells of NYC! Our guide was awesome. The best part of this tour is that we get to decide how fast to go, when to linger, where to stop and eat, etc.

Trey was our tour guide for the day and shared great advice and wisdom about everything from the Park to Chinatown. It snowed during our tour and dropped below 30 degrees and we still had a great time. This is the way to see the real city just like New Yorker's do everyday when working and living in the city.... I have never written a review on tripadvisor before but my experience with Real New York Tours was far more superior to anything that I ever expected. I went on the tour my first day in New York which was the best decision I could have made. I had never been to New York before and our tour guide, Jimmy,... More

We had the great pleasure of taking a Half Apple tour with Heidi in February. It was bitterly cold but she made it all so fascinating that that we enjoyed every minute of it. We have children aged 15, 13 and 8 and we wondered if might not appeal to all of them but Heidi managed to keep them thoroughly... More

In my travels, I've found myself to be a bit overwhelmed when I begin to try to explore a bigger city for the first time. I've discovered that walking tours of a city are a great way to delve into travel adventures. With that said, I've never experienced a more enjoyable, informative tour of a city than the "Dozen Apples"... More

I grew up north of NYC and had been there many times to the shows, concerts and medical centers etc. Until this tour with I don't think I've every visited the city properly. My tour was the private half-Apple of lower Manhattan with Heidi and it was nothing less than outstanding. She was a wealth of knowledge and fun to... More

As our title states we had a fantastic time walking the streets of New York on Sunday 3rd March. Our guide was Nathan. He was so enthusiastic and knew so much. The weather was perfect blue skies but freezing. We had been to New York before but felt we wanted to know the background to this wonderful city. We did... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
