Description:

The unique concept behind City Food Tours was developed in New York City...

The unique concept behind City Food Tours was developed in New York City when Joyce Weinberg, a seasoned food industry professional with more than 20 years of experience, wanted to share her passion for fine foods. From managing Fortune 500 confectionery businesses, to buying gourmet chocolates for Bloomingdales, she's done it all. Compared to other existing New York food tours that focus on more common foods, CFT introduces tour guests to a vast offering of high-quality, artisanal foods and encourage them to support local specialty stores, farmers, and sustainable agriculture. We help people realize that there's a lot more out there than the processed foods they encounter in mega-marts.

In my opinion this tour is absolutely not worth it and falls completely short of what it is advertised as. The only thing that may be true about this tour "...it will fill you up..." but certainly does not "...bring the history of the city to life." Not only is this tour not interesting, the food offered is less than... More

What this just boiled down to was being taken to 3 different bars and given cocktails, something I wouldn't have paid $145 for. I feel the phrase "prohibition tour" wildly exaggerated the experience we had. There was nothing "tour" about this. We arrived early at the meeting point to be told that the restaurant knew nothing about the tour which... More

Terrible and rude "customer service" when I contacted them about my booking. Didn't respond to an email, when I called the gentleman who answered was rude and told me to email them again, which i did, and that also got no response. There are better tours out there.

This was a fun tour, and I highly recommend to people visiting New York. Kenny (? spelling) was an excellent tour guide. He shared his personal experiences as well as relevant facts about the food and the neighborhoods. The variety of the food was good. We tried chocolate, baked goods, cheese, a sandwich, as well as beer or wine. It... More

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS TOUR. The food portions are miniscule and the food is really not very good. The tour guide was very pleasant but actually gave little or no information about the areas that the tour visits- in fact, the tour ended 30 minutes early. Worse than the tour is the customer service. I accidentally deleted... More

My friends and I were disappointed by our food tour. We've been on previous NYC food tours (different company) and have had wonderful experiences. You walked away with an in-depth knowledge of the neighborhood and restaurants. We had the totally opposite experience on this food tour. The tour guide was incredibly friendly and nice but didn't provide any real information... More

This was a frustrating experience for my husband and I as I was under the impression that it was going to be a speak easy tour. The tour was walking around with another couple and tour guide to three random bars (NOT SPEAK EASYS) and receiving a cocktail of which was picked ahead of time by the tour guide's manager.... More

We had a wonderful time with Joyce today. We had 4 adults and 20 high school seniors. She was knowledgeable of the area and food. Joyce is a New Yorker to the core- she loves her job and loves telling you about it. We visited a variety of places.

We had a great afternoon exploring some new restaurants and food stores in NYC with our very knowledgable host. Great activity, even for locals!

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
