This is a beautiful bridge with sweeping views of New Jersey and New York. In my lifetime I have probably been over it 1,000 plus times. That said, if it is a holiday, rush hour or an accident has occurred people have been known to experience a lot of stress due to being stuck for hours.

This was an impressive way for final exit from New York, and although it was busy there were no real delays. To be on a bridge with 2 levels and traffic seemingly coming up from below was an amazing experience and the construction beyond belief. The views were amazing from the upper deck.

I have visited NY many times, and is my first walk on the Washington Bridge upper deck. As expected, it was crowded, but not chaotic. The views of the Hudson River and the skyline were amazing. Families, couples, solos from many countries...and if you wished to perpetuate the momento, always someone willing to take your picture. Beautiful!!

I was staying in the Comfort Inn on River Rd in New Jersey and decided to cycle across the George Washington bridge. Definite highs and lows in this experience. The River Rd approach starts off nice cycling along the Hudson on a nice multi use path until it dumps you on River Rd at the bottom of an impossible hill.... More

Even though there are lots of bridges and tunnels from New Jersey into NY City, the GW Bridge is still the grand-daddy of them all. Massive, sweeping columns hold up those huge suspension cables, it looks beautiful in the day or at night. I always try to take the upper level bridge expanse, as you don't get much of a... More

Horrible wait times to cross the bridge, long lines, poor maintenance and continual construction problems make the GBW a nightmare to travel at peak and weekend travel periods.

When you drive over this bridge when there is no traffic it's fine little bit crowded lanes a little small and an expensive tole. When you drive over if you are lucky you can see what it's like when Chris Christie is not causing a traffic jam.

Bridge hours for walking across are posted as 6am-midnight every day. No cost for using the walking/bike path. Only the south sidewalk is open for walking/biking. As others have noted, there are lots of bike riders using the path every day, so be sure to stay to the right if you are walking. I used Google maps to figure out... More

Amazing architectural structure. Bridge has Two levels - upper & lower. A bit pricy toll at $15. I-95 from NJ to NY.

Sitting in a local park on a sunny afternoon, watching the river traffic and reading a book close to the GW Bridge, was a pleasant and relaxing way to spend a few hours.
