Opera at its best

Visited here many times sometimes in the best seats, sometimes in 'the gods', always with a performance to cherish.

If you have never been to the Metropolitan Opera in New York, make sure to visit next time when in the city. Fidelio was just an amazing performance that we both will remember forever.

My husband and I were so surprised at how much we enjoyed the opera. We had family section (cheap) seats and could still see fine, and the translation screen on the back of the chairs in front helped a ton! We will do this again.

I am an opera enthusiast since several years ago, and despite I've heard hours and hours of performances through my computer, I was never able to actually attend one until very recently. Watching Aida in the heart of Manhattan was an exceptional audiovisual experience that I will never forget. The chariots, the horses, the wigs, the costumes, the acoustic, the... More

I watched the opera Eugene Onegin with Anna Netrebko tonight. It is a lovely opera hall, great acoustics and service. (Pity about the plastic champagne glasses..)

Matt and I were able to attend the opening night of Fer Rosenkavalier this week. The performers were all magnificent, but this is not a review of the show. The space is wonderful. They have their own parking garage, but are also on a subway line, bus lines, and are easily accessible by cab or on foot. The lobby is... More

We enjoyed the Opera AIDA at this mythical venue in the heart of Manhattan. The production of the opera and the stage were epic, the cast of dozens and live horses pulling the victor's chariot in act 2 was truly incredible. All the seats are great I can imagine but the Grand Tier near the centre Isle provided an exceptional... More

I went here on my final night in NYC, a Saturday night. My first time at an opera. The plaza is stunning, it's really special. Take the time to look at the waterfall it's beautiful. The building is lovely, I was there to see La Traviata. I was in a balcony box partial view. I was able to see most... More

The Met has been my solace since childhood. There is no Broadway scrum line at the Met, just a wonderful walk across the plaza of Lincoln Center into the welcoming, luxurious foyer of the opera house. Employees are all devoted to the institution, and will do everything in their power to ensure you have a wonderful time. If you are... More
