A great night of entertainment at the Apollo Theater amateur night. Popular with tourists and locals, a very enjoyable night. Plenty of places to eat nearby and easy to get to via the subway.

My wife and I joined a group of friends to tour the Apollo - led by Billy "Mr Apollo" Mitchell. It was a wonderful afternoon. We learned, for example, of the racist start to this "new burlesque house" at the start of the 20th century....More

This is a legendary musical hall located in Harlem and many famous legends had performed here. We were not able to watch any of their shows here. We took some nice pictures of the theater and the neighborhood.

An iconic landmark that I just had to visit. They weren't giving tours when we arrived, but it was busy. They had it roped off so you could only get into the front. They had a gift shop set up. Friendly staff. Must come back...More

The Show Was Great! We had center orchestra seats, 6 rows from the front, 2 end seats for $12.00! So wonderful! The host, Comedian Capone, was beyond funny and audience was fun loving and quitefriendly! And all around FABULOUS time.

As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has
played a vital role in the history of New York City.
Today, the neighbourhood is as vibrant as ever as new
businesses and developments go up next to local

bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and
historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with
big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and

Absolutely, but it helps if they are into soul music :-) Our youngest is 14 and got the jokes, but younger kids might miss some of the jokes. One thing though, it gets very loud at the theatre, so 2-2½ hours may be a long... More

It is held at the iconic theatre. You can wear whatever casual or smart. You can see from the upper part as the stage is really big. It finished at about 11pm as there's an interval.
