I travelled to NY with an 18 year old and a 20 year old - they were in their element shopping in SoHo - all the big names are here - gorgeous streets and buildings and super stylish shoppers.

Bordering Greenwich Village & Little Italy, Soho is a reasonably upmarket district of Manhattan. Good range of boutique style shops, as well as many of the more recognised brands. Great place to wander around, grab a coffee or lunch and do some brand shopping.

What can I say, we know this neighborhood in block-by-block, building-by-building detail. There's over 800 shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. We map a lot cities' retail scenes and the consistency and quality of the retail here is impressive. - Jim Red Maps

Soho is my favorite area to shop. The buildings are smaller and you actually get the sense of "New York" without all the bright shiny buildings.

Love SOHO! The shopping is as good as anywhere we have been. We love the restaurant choices. SOHO has many options and the majority are not national chains so the originality and quality are there.

East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village,
which offers plenty of unique small businesses
catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college
students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the
old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still
experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned
shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of
the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to

Most anywhere in NYC you should check out advanced reservations, as even places that normally don't have reservations may have a New Year's event. Depends what you like, but Arturos on Houston is a great bar with brick oven... More
