I had heard the music was good here - but it is phenomenal. We went to the 8AM Easter Sunday service and were so happy we had made the effort. The boys and men choir was amazing. The brass ensemble took our breath away -- and all accompanied by the fabulous organist. The church is beautiful and the service was... More

Don't just visit this church, impressive though it is. Make sure you attend choral evensong at 5.30pm most days. Choral evensong is one of the highlights of the Anglican cathedrals and Episcopal churches but to hear it sung at St Thomas's Church is to ascend to another level. You will be transported from your seat to another time; to the... More

St. Thomas is a superb institution for Anglican mass in its most traditional and celebratory style. Perhaps the best music, soon to have the best pipe organ, it also has one of the few remaining Choir Schools, so men & boys choirs plus organist and brass and tympani produced a unique & memorable Easter celebration.

Our family attended the 11 AM Service on Palm Sunday. Beautiful church with classical gothic arches and beautiful carvings in the Chancel (Apse). The Liturgy is high church and theology conservative. Absolutely packed but felt welcomed and included by congregation. Right Rev Dr Rowan Williams former Archbishop of Canterbury give a sermon to prepare us for Holy week. He spoke... More

The St. Thomas (Episcopal) Church at 5th Avenue and 53d Street is a site that photographers should seek out while looking for great venues. We were awed by the beauty of this church inside and out. The woodwork is simply fantastic and the organ pipes are some of the prettiest I've seen anywhere in the World. The windows are spectacular.... More

We have a tradition of going to churches all over the world and lighting candles for our loved ones. We had already been to St Patrick's which was fabulous but very busy and we stumbled upon st Thomas. Although you can't light candles there we were absolutely amazed by the architecture inside. It was beautiful!

My daughter and I enjoyed our visit to this lovely church right in the middle of the shopping district. The lighting was beautiful and we particularly enjoyed the nativity scene during the holiday season.

I was walking down 5th avenue and decided to check this out. The architecture is very nice and it looks older than it probably is. It only takes about twenty minutes to look it over. But very nice

An outstanding church in Midtown NYC on 5th Avenue completed in 1914. The high altar and great reredos is an impressive piece of architecture and the organ facing the altar, and the circular stained glass window above and behind it is beautiful. The stained glass windows in St. Thomas are again something to be admired. Designed by the great English... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
