Most walking tours point and stare at New York-with Streetwise New York, you live it. We explore neighborhoods, recount history and study contrasts-uncovering the true New York, that's melted into pizza slices, hidden in subways, and carried in the ever-changing stories of its 8 million people. From the swankiest stretches of Fifth Avenue to the grimiest of graffitied alleys, we share tales passed down from our grandparents, gleaned from books, and whispered on street corners. Got to take 5 tours and it was far more incredible than we expected. Proffesionalism and fun combined for the perfect tours around NYC. Took home lots of knowledge of the city that probably would'nt have learnt if it wasn't for these awesome people.

My husband and I did a private walking tour of Brooklyn with Dan and had a really enjoyable day! We felt like we were hanging out with an old friend as we meandered around the neighborhoods and he shared stories, history and special places we would never have found on our own. This was one of the most fun things... More

Sonya took us on a great tour of street art in East Side and into China town. A small group of us 6 or 7 met at Pod hotel and took subway down town. Half of us on the tour were had come along on our own - but we soon felt like family!! As we travelled Sonya talked about... More

This was our second time touring with Andrew & Streetwise. We even booked the same tour, The Immigrant. Being history buffs we found it fascinating the first time around & since we were traveling with a different couple this time we thought we'd book it again. Andrew has an undying love for his city & its history and it shows.... More

My friend and I stayed at the Pod Hotel for four days in February. Upon arrival we noticed the walking tours that were offered and were excited to see that they were areas that we had been hoping to see anyway. We decided to try one (Meatpacking District, Greenwhich Village, Highline) tour to see what it was all about and... More

Absolutely enjoyed the enthusiastic and informative tour with each member of Streetwise Tours. Without their recommendations, their open and expressive insights that delve into the ceaseless ticking Heart of New York and the people that live there, we would have not been able to appreciate this great city in the same capacity we do now. You can't just read about... More

During my staying at Pod, I joined the tour "Greenwhich village and Meatpacking district" with Sonya and it has been a unforgettable experience! The group was small, the atmosphere relaxed, and our guide was truly passionate and informative. The next day, I could not avoid to join the "Dumbo and Brooklyn" tour with Dan and my expectations were matched. Cannot... More

My wife and I stayed in New York at the POD hotel on 52nd street between Christmas and New Year. When we arrived we saw an information board on the lobby counter offering free trips every day. We took advantage of this and went on two trips, one that went to Chelsea, the Meat Market, the Highline and Greenwich Village... More

My friend and I took the free Holiday Windows Tour offered through our hotel while we were enjoying a long weekend in NYC. Dan was a terrific guide -- very knowledgeable about all the sights, easy to understand even as we navigated crowded NYC sidewalks, and had a relaxed but professional attitude. The tour greatly enriched our trip by giving... More

We booked with Dan on line and found his communication prior to our trip, to be excellent, answering all out queries promptly. As a family of four from Sydney, travelling to New York for the first time, we chose to go on 2 tours with Streetwise Tours. It was a fantastic decision. Our first tour included using the Manhatten subway,... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
