Eric is a fantastic guide - he is full of knowledge and dispels the many myths that you read in the press. He gives so much time for you to ask questions, and also pushes you to seek your own answers. Eric provides a follow up reading / watching list and we have since bought his book among many others.... Eric did a great job. I grew up in NJ and thought I knew about the mafia but there were so many misconceptions that he discussed. There were 4 of us from New Orleans and he did a great job discussing the role of our city with the Sicilians entering the country at the turn of the century. An easy... More

What I really enjoyed was how Eric built the story of how the mafia started from its beginnings moving through its history to the present day. An eloquent and interesting speaker. His folder of pictures and articles helped bring the stories to life. Well worth doing. Thanks Eric. I'm glad we took the time out to walk with you.

I booked the mafia tour and was so glad I did! The tour took us through many places of interest and Eric`s knowledge and stories of growing up in the neighbourhood were unbelievable! It was fascinating and very intriguing listening to the history of the 5 families, the days of prohibition, Charles "Lucky" Luciano and so much more! Eric was... More

We took the Mafia tour with Eric. Very interesting and informative, Eric grew up with all the "mafia" culture, and his tour is almost like a tale. If you like history, it is a hit.

We had a fantastic time in New York but the tour led by Eric was probably the highlight of our trip. The History of the area and the origins of Italian organised crime were covered in detail and was thoroughly enjoyable. I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting New York. Thanks again Eric. Eric is amazing. Really knows his stuff and presents it in an interesting way. Plus, he's very pleasant. For 20$, it's an offer you can't refuse.

We are keen Mafia buffs and were therefore delighted to have Eric as our tour guide. We were fearing the possibility of having someone who had learned a few sound-bites on the subject and who was just doing the job to earn a dollar. Nothing could have been further from the reality of our experience. Eric is a serious student... More

Booked this tour on line a few days before we travelled and we were not disappointed. There was just eight of us which was great. Our guide was very well informed and interesting and did grew up in the area. Would highly recommend

This is the most interesting and fascinating tour I have ever been on. That is almost entirely down to Eric who is knowledgeable and tells the story in an effortless manner and covers a lot of detail. His background makes this an authentic experience and one that I'm pretty sure no other tour on the subject comes close to.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
