Five of us enjoyed this bar/restaurant because of the menu choices. Other than waitress pushing us to order more, and feeling rushed, was good choice. Worth stopping in for historical atmosphere alone.

P J Clarke's is a Manhattan institution. I first went here in 1975 or so. It is a classic bar with a stunning old world ambience. Hip, cool, and happening it is not. There is a full service restaurant in back. Great place to have a drink and have a sense of old New York. A genuine "Mad Men" hangout.

We went here for lunch as it was close to the Lincoln Centre and we had some time to kill. We only ordered light due to time constraints. I had the French Onion soup and my partner had the Clam Chowder we shared a portion of Mushroom Fries ( I think that's how they're described on the menu). The soup was... More

We visited PJ Clarkes on Hogmanay to have a good hearty meal before the festivities later on and we weren't disappointed. Having walked by it earlier in the day we decided to return for some burgers around 3.30pm and it was absolutely packed! We were served by Tiffany who was fantastic, she was incredibly attentive during our meal noticing when... More

PJ Clarkes is recommended as a drinking spot in the Lonely Planet guide, but the burgers are fabulous and the rest of the menu sounded good too! We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed a quality 'giant bloody Mary' and the Clarke's burger with some melt-in-the-mouth onion strings. The place has been around since 1884 and certainly has some history.... More

Nicely located with plenty of seating in either of the dining rooms or bars. Great selection with plenty to share. Service was fast and friendly. No changing table in women's restroom.

My husband and I brought our friends here for dinner after seeing a show. It was our third visit here over 3 trips to New York in the last 8 years and once again, they didn't let us down. Fabulous food and service, great atmosphere, love it! Only down side is that they don't take reservations, so you may need... More

I should have written something when we came 6 years ago, after a recommendation from a friend who had been 10 years earlier. This place feels like it has been providing the same service forever. Beer is great (Sam's Seasonal for me), the burgers are outstanding (and there is a bit of competition locally), and the service is fast and... More

We pitched up here for a drink ( or two) and a bite after arriving in NY from the UK earlier today. Having been up for in excess of twenty hours laid back and simple was the order of the day, we got it in spades. The food was fresh and of excellent quality. Staff friendly and the negroni's and... Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
