My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the orchestra. The music was beautiful and the David Geffen center had great acoustics. After hearing this orchestra I can see why they are considered one of the top 20 orchestras in the world.

An iconic way to spend a NY evening. David Geffen hall is a great space with an amazing terrace overlooking the fountain.

Leonard Bernstein's beloved West Side Story score — from "America" and "Tonight" to "Somewhere" and "Maria" — as the complete, re-mastered, Oscar-winning film is projected in hi-def, with original vocals and dialogue intact. Experience this iconic New York City love story as never before. Directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins; featuring Robbins's choreography, Ernest Lehman's screenplay, Arthur Laurents's book,... Lincoln Center is an icon of the arts in New York City. The New York Philharmonic is made up of world class musicians- the best of the best. If you have never tasted classical music, this is the place to start. As for The Art of the Score, the performance was better than we ever anticipated. We often contemplated attending... More

A major rehabilitation is in the works, only a small part of which has been paid for by David Geffen, who nonetheless has naming rights to the renovatef hall. To prevent confusion, TripAdviser should change the name of this hall and perhaps give it a listing separately from Lincoln Center generally.

Holst-Planets! We had some nosebleed seats and figured we didn't need to see much, because it's more about listening. The orchestra was fabulous, the sound was great in the David Geffen theatre and we actually had a decent view as well (see photo). If you're a fan of classical music, it's a very nice venue and the musicians of course... More

Never thought this would be something I'd enjoy as much as I did. I am in awe of the amazing talent of these musicians. Definitely something everyone should experience at least once. There are even young children's concerts to take your kids to if you want to expose them to something like this.

Don't pass up the opportunity to see one of the world's best orchestra in one of the best venues (David Geffen Hall) on earth. I attended the orchestra's performance of Mahler's 9th Symphony and it was AWESOME!! The orchestra and the director gave an exquisite performance of Mahler's passionate work. Again, you won't regret attending a concert!

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
